Sorry for being daft, but what does DOS stand for? I am glad that they were able to give you some indication of what is happening. Let's hope you hear from them soon!

DOS = Department of State. Once you have your case number you can call them and they'll give you updates on your case (if any), unlike the extortion line that'll give you an email code but tell you nothing.

To call from the UK I dialed (001)(202) 663-1225 press 1, then 0 for a live person. No idea what codes are when calling from elsewhere.

So we all just keep on waiting, doesn't seem to be a lot else we can do...unless Yvie will share with us the name of the visa official she bribed! lol

I wish I could! I feel ever so guilty when I see people filing or returning P3s only days or a few weeks after me and getting caught up in the most horrible delays :( It's been pure luck from start to finish.

My interview is next week and I'm convinced that we've had an easy ride and they're gonna make me sweat or deny me at the Embassy

You'll be fine! Although I am a little bit envious of yourself and JGA I really am happy for you all. I'm not sure how stressful anyone else has found this, but I've found this whole thing terrible, maybe because it seems so out of our control and a lot of it all just seems to be waiting and waiting. So for anyone's journey to be faster it's a good thing and every new approval from London hopefully means the rest of us are a step closer.

I quite genuinely think we could be approved pending further evidence next week because Brett's job offer still hasn't come through :(

I'm going to go armed with his tax returns from the last few years, copies of his education transcripts, a letter from his contracting company (in the US) offering transfer assistance and a letter from him stating his intent to get a job and move to the US IF my visa is approved, along with a few examples of the sort of work he's looking for. We're hoping that the occasionally lenient attitudes London has regarding I-864s will see us through with the help of a charm offensive from a reasonably pretty blonde, lol. Seriously though, he's on around $74k now and is looking for government jobs around $80-$100k in the US, so we're hoping for an understanding official to use some common sense next week.

His parents have offered to co-sponsor, but we'd rather give it a stab on our own so they don't need to tie themselves to the US Gov for the next 10 years. Our interview is 2 months+ before our intended leave date, so we have time to sort that out if we need it :)

Where is everyone moving to when they finally get through this? We're still sorting out Brett's job offers, but it looks like San Antonio, TX or Tampa, FL for us :) I've had enough of crappy English weather and have demanded a few years of sun!

We are planning on moving to NYC, but starting in Upstate NY with my mum, until we get an idea of how things work over there. I (USC) have done all my growing up years in the UK, so have no idea how things work over there. It's going to be interesting! Not looking forward to finding health insurance!! Yikes!! I hate the NHS, but at least you don't have to worry about paying crazy medical bills!

Anyhoo, only 3 days to go. Nervous? Me? Hell yes!!

Good luck! Im sure you will be fine. You are so organised! I'll be thinking about you :star:

So it's a case of the blind leading the blind for you two then? Brett's only been in the UK since March 06, so he's in charge of all that stuff. Insurance worries me too, but Brett will see me right, I hope!

I think I'll be fine, but I really do see the I-864 giving us trouble. We'll just try to bombard them with extra evidence and hope that they're blinded by it, lol.

Good luck for the interview Yvie!! I'm sure all will be fine.

Thanks for the congrats everyone.

Henry has a job in Wisconsin, so no escape from bad weather for me. Humid as hell during the summer and 9 foot of snow in the winter, oh the joy! I plan to hibernate during the winter.

As for your I-864, Yvie, use any info and proof of savings and assets, you'll be fine. And if I don't get to post before, good luck now.

Sharo, I agree with Yvie, you must be completely mental. Hubby and I have agreed no matter what happens and how bad my homesickness is, we stay in the US till I get citizenship. That way if we ever do end up (in some moments of craziness) moving back to the UK, then back to the US, we'll never have to deal with the US immigration dept ever again.

Anyone heard any news from JGA? Do they have their visa?

We're headed to St Louis. Most people would probably consider it horrible weather (HOT and humid summers, freezing and snowy winters) but it's home for me. I really miss having distinct seasons. It seems silly to say this, but I honestly think the rainy, grey UK weather is one of the main reasons we're moving back. I've just never been able to acclimatise to it.

WOOHOOO we got an interview for July 31! thanks for the number and the tip posted above. I called the DOS and some guy gave us the interview date and time. still no official notification, though. have people gotten this through email or through the post?

what does the interview entail? i'll be busy completing my affidavit of support (my dad's already done a joint sponsorship one) and making 5x copies of everything. hope it's not too intimidating. my poor hubs is already sick of the us embassy staff, they've denied him a tourist visa twice and they're always really mean as well :(

Congrats!

We never did receive an email from the embassy, but we did get the hard copy interview letter on Saturday. As for the interview, if you look on the regional, UK forum...on page 3, there's a youtube video of the non-immigrant interview process, people have said it's exactly the same as what we'll face. Not formal like I'd expected at all. You can also get to the youtube link from the London embassy page. Good Luck
