Just found this thread and sooooooo glad I did!

Congrats to all who have been approved recently! Can't wait until we are in a similar situation!

Some questions:

We are DCFing and just got what I think is our NOA1 on Saturday. It was a notice that our I130 had been approved and to send in the DS230 and DS2001, is this the NOA1?

Also, I'm worrying about the 864  I am the USC my husband is the 'immigrant' We are both self employed. My work will not continue once we get to the states, my husband's will. My husband is an independent contractor IT consultant. He contracts solely to one UK company and will continue to do so once we move to the states. We will need to use his income on our 864 which far exceeds the poverty level, but I am just worried about showing/proving this to the consular officer. What should we be prepared to show? We don't have pay stubs because he is self-employed although he does invoice the UK company, perhaps we should show copies of the invoices? Should we also get a letter from the CEO of the UK company to show that he intends to continue employing my husband? Anything else anyone can think of? My mom in the states has offered to do a 864 as a joint sponsor but she is married and my 'step-father' and I don't have much of a relationship and I would hate to ask him to do an 864A. (He would have to right, if my mom does an 864 for us since they are married?)

Thanks guys! I hope there are still some of you out there for us newbies!

I am going to copy a post I placed on the IR1/CR1 thread to see if anyone over here on the London Embassy bit can help.

We are DCFing. Just got NOA1 approval on 5/10/09. We are now in the process of collecting forms to send DS2001 and DS 230part 1. I'm a bit confused because in the information I have read the NVC should send us form I864 when it is time to fill this form in. I have read conflicting information as to whether or not the NVC is even involved in our case as we are filing directly with the US Embassy in London.

With our NOA1 it said our approved petition had been passed to the visa processing unit at the London embassy. We received a letter from the visa processing unit at the same time we received NOA1 to say we needed to refer to two different webpages, one regarding the medical exam, one regarding the next step to follow.

Before sending form DS2001 and form DS 230 part 1 we need to gather loads of documents, one of which is the I 864 form. I'm assuming in our case since we are DCF we don't need to wait for the NVC to send us anything?!

I also need some help filling in form I864 and wanted to see if anyone could help us before I spend the money to call the 0900 number for info.

We are married(4 1/2 years), living in England (filing at the London Embassy). I am the USC, my husband is British. I have a son from a previous marriage who lives with us full-time. We also have a son born just 3 months ago. Both sons are USCs. We will all be moving back to The States together, although my husband is the only non-USC.

On part 3, Do I have to answer question 8 or is this just when you have 2 joint sponsors?

On part 3, question 9, Do I have to answer this, and do I only list my husband as he is the only person who is immigrating who is a non-USC. Do I need to list my sons here even though they are USCs?

On part 3, question 10, answer is just 1, yes?

On part 4, We live together in England, although I own a home in The States which we will be moving back to when my husband gets his approved visa. Question 12 mailing address is obviously our home together in England, but what about place of residence-Question 13? I have indefinite leave to remain in the UK but as I said I do own a home in The States. Where does that leave us with Question 15 then?

On part 5, I need to put'1' in a, what about the others? I'm guessing I skip c, even though I am married but I will have already accounted for my spouse in question a? And our children, I need to put '2' in d?

We will be using my husband 'the immigrant's' income to help us meet the poverty guideline. On question 24, I should tick 'e' even though my husband does have accompanying dependents. Is this right?

Even though I have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years I have still filed US tax returns, but obviously these are based on income I have made from a UK company. This employment will not continue once we move to The US. This is still the income I need to be showing on these forms?

My husband and I are both self-employed. I will not continue my business once we arrive in The US but my husband will. What documents should we collect in order to show that my husband's business will continue to support us in the US? He is a self-employed IT consultant but he contracts solely to a UK company and will continue to do so once we get to the US.

Hope this isn't too annoying, but thanks to anyone who can help!

If you had your mother fill out a I-864 if she makes enough to support herself, her husband and the intending immigrant(s) then she wouldn't have to have her husband fill out the I-864A. Of course she would have to include copies of their tax returns which would be joint tax returns.

Applying for visa second time around. Originally moved to US 2002 on a K1 visa. Married Aug 2002 lived there 6 years then moved back to the UK with USC husband and kids. However, we're now looking at moving back, so we're doing the whole visa thing AGAIN.

I moved over a week ago and all went as smoothly as could be expected. Just settling in now, we already have a car and bank accounts but still living with the in-laws until we find jobs etc.

I used Transglobal Express (www.transglobal.org.uk) and shipped via DHL. We shipped 28 fairly hefty boxes and it cost about £750. The first 8 boxes showed up last week and the rest should be here today. You have to box everything up yourself but a shipping company quoted us over £850 for half the amount that we eventually shipped.

Good luck!

Lee - glad you hear you have started to settle in over there. Good luck on the job search!

I decided to go with Excess Baggage - 60 cuft for £473! I just hope that is enough for us! Boxes were delivered today, so its all starting to become more real.

I don't even want to think about shipping. When we move the majority of our stuff is going to get boxed up in my parent's attic. Luckily for us since we've only been back in the UK for 2 years we don't have too much stuff to worry about taking over. Or perhaps that's just what I'm leading myself to believe.....
