Very cool. It's interesting to see that in terms of legal immigration, Mexico is head and shoulders above everyone else.

trans0509whoiscomingtoamerica.jpg

But dig a little deeper. The fruit of seven illegal alien amnesties and family based chain migration has done its work. Those that illegally immigrate the most have the most representation.

The unfairness of that fact is obvious.

If the history of immigration is relevant in terms of fairness, let's explore that history in its entirety. Cherry picking that history only serves a specific agenda.

I have you stumped?

Oh, I think I know just where you want to go with this. I am quite aware of American history. In some ways it is relevant to the 21st century and in some ways it is not.

However, I can safely say that the American people never wanted illegal immigration to be one of the biggest components of US immigration policy. I would also safely say that the American people never wanted today what the immigration legislations from 1965 forward have wrought.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

You're cherry picking the history of immigration into the U.S., peejay. You've basically called previous amnesty immigration policies as unfair, but reject anyone calling the negative treatment towards illegal immigrants as being unfair, because, according to your logic, the law determines what is fair. In other words, you're contradicting yourself.

OK. whatever, I've said what I wanted to say on this thread. I think whoever reads this thread up to this point can draw their own conclusions now that some sunlight has been shown on your graph.

From what I can see, you guys prefer darkness and illusion.

I've never said that illegal is not illegal

I'm not even mentioning amnesty READ what i wrote, I'm pointing out your dislike for family chain migration. I even call them illegal aliens and don't even care about using the "proper" term; that in my opinion it is unfair and bigotry...yes but at least I'm not complaining over and over even about the legality of the process related to family chain sponsorship.

complaining about a legal process, come on... Again LEGAL is LEGAL

And why do you spend so much time complaining about something that happened many years ago? the amnesties are history deal with it...

After 7 illegal alien amnesties and the usual suspects demanding #8 it definitely is not history. Facts are facts and everyone needs to know and understand what is going on...now. The truth never hurt anyone, but certain people can't handle the truth nor do they want the truth to see the light of day.

So...what is the proper term for people that illegally jump over the fence with fake ID's and lie on their I-9's?

ok Jack Nicholson

And what's the proper term for people that in order to save some money (wages, taxes) hire these individuals and pay them under the table? Those who are to blame principally for this mess. By pretending that your countrymen don't do anything wrong doesn't take away the fact that they are the ones creating and feeding this monster called illegal immigration.

No jobs = no illegal immigration

so that's the solution. we need massive unemployment to solve the illegal crisis.

I thought we had that now.

What we have is 13 million unemployed Americans and 7 million employed illegal aliens being protected by the refusal to implement the proven E-Verify system. The administration is holding E-verify hostage until a mass blanket illegal alien amnesty is passed through congress. So, in essence, the priority is the illegal aliens rather than Americans. I find that fact disgusting and an outrage. I hope I'm not the only American that finds this unacceptable.

... enforcing the law is "unfair"

I agree. It is pathetic that E-verify is not mandatory. Shame on the government and shame on the US employers who knowingly hire illegals.

Just wondering .... when the Mayflower landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620 did they get an I-94? I wonder if they filed AOS within 90 days of landing. No? You mean they've been out of status for the past 490 years?? Holy #######! That's one pretty long chain migration to the present day

Fixor previous post ^

BTW - for those who actually studied the graph that started this thread, did you notice that family-based petitions are a small subset of overall immigration for most countries?

Cuba makes sense to me because it has the 'wet foot/dry foot' policy, meaning if they can dodge the coast guard and step foot on Miami Beach, they're home free and legal, no family ties necessary. Hence 3000/48000 are family based, and 42000/48000 are political refugees/asylum seekers.

But the others are surprising. The non-family-based cases are either employment based (e.g. H1B converting to Green Card) or Diversity Lottery. Is there any other way to get immigration status? Not that I'm aware of. Do the employment based visas conversions so vastly outnumber the family based petitions? I wouldn't have thought so. But if this data is correct, I guess they do.

Some of the numbers are changing, due to the influence of the internet. Fiance(e) visa's are becoming a larger and larger part of the mix every year. Also, don't forget, Philippines, Mexico, and China don't get to participate in the lottery.

Also, as far as visa classes, I think almost the entire alphabet is used.
