It looked like students were playing a game in teacher Yajing Li's classroom at West Orange High School recently. Teams took turns in front of the room, acting out "talking on the phone" or "taking a bath" as classmates tried to guess what they were doing.

But the game of charades -- with answers called out in Chinese -- was played for more than fun. Recognizing China's growing importance in the 21st century, West Orange is one of an increasing number of New Jersey school districts now teaching the language.

"Because of the level of economic powerhouse China has become in terms of trade and commerce, we felt it was important to offer a language representative of a true world language," said Ed Acevedo, world language supervisor in the West Orange School District, which began offering Mandarin Chinese in 2007. Some 120 students now study Chinese in eighth grade and high school there.

The number of New Jersey districts teaching Chinese has roughly doubled since 2005, according to Lucy Lee, a Livingston High School Chinese teacher and member of the board of Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey. About 38 districts now offer it, and more are considering it.

...

Nationally, the number of Chinese programs in the U.S. increased 200 percent between 2004 and 2008, according to a report issued by the College Board and the Asia Society.

Yes a public University. After this much college I'd have to say I am aware that profs have agenda's some teach to the right some teach to the left. As far as administration goes with indoctrination I don't think that what is suggested is on the menu out West just yet.

If school children all learn Chinese in school, will small penises become fashionable?

Public university? Are you being indoctrinated?

I thought you wanted us to learn Spanish. Are you anti-born or something?

At least make up your mind bro.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
