This is great! At least it gives hope that the possibility is there for others, too :dance: I had biometrics done last Sept I think. They were for a replacement Resident card.

The above is not legal advice.

It is either from research or merely my opinion.

Motu is correct!!! You call them up, they say one thing, then you call again and they say another. You can never get a straight answer from them. Oh well. Congrats and best of luck on your journey.

It happens. I did not received any fingerprints appointment but I received an interview letter. I had my interview today. Unfortunately, the IO cannot approve it yet because of expired fingerprints. It was only good for 15 months and expired on April 17, 2009. He ask me to go to USCIS ASC for fingerprinting. It was close today so I will go back again tomorrow.

I did my fingerprints today. It was not a pleasant experience. First of all, no parking. Second, 2 hours and 15 minutes waiting time, no system. My friend was tired driving around the block for 2 hours waiting for me. =)

My interview was very fast and professionally done. I was sworn first. The IO go through the application and ask me questions as it appears in the application. Then, he ask me to read "Who is George Washington?". Then he asked me to write "Washington is the first president." Afterwards, he asked me the following questions: What war fought by the Unites States in the 1900s? Who is the Chief Justice of the United States?, The House of Representatives has how many voting members?, We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years? In what month do we vote for President? I can't remember the last question anymore. Then, he said I passed the tests. He asked me to sign the last page of my application. He was checking files. I saw the expired fingerprints so he said I will send you to the USCIS ASC for fingerprints today so that in 2-3 days he will receive it and schedule me for interview. He said the available interview is on May 28 and in June. He said he will try my best to put me in May schedule just to do the fingerprints yesterday. Unfortunately, all USCIS ASC offices are closed on Monday because they are open on Saturday. I did it today.

According to FBI internal rule, fingerprint result is valid up to 15 months now.

Depending on US adjudicator - interview officer -, when it is approaching to 15 month validity, he/she can just go ahead with or without another fingerprint.

Fingerprint result returns to USCIS within 24~48 hours from the time when you take fingerprint from USCIS ASC.

So it is not a big deal for whole process viewpoint.

Therefore if USCIS adjudicator decide that there is a chance to complete the case before the validity, they can just go ahead without another fingerprint appointment.

But if USCIS adjudicator is more of perfectionist, or cautious about it, he/she can order another fingerprint appointment for just in case.

Hi,

you said that the IO was going to schedule you for an interview after the FP. What interview? You passed the test correct?

My wife had to have biometrics done twice during her AOS, not because the fingerprints had expired, but because USCIS managed to lose them during the 10 months between herbiometrics appointment and her interview.

The way I see it is if you had to pay for the biometrics anyway, you might as well, get them done again, even if the set from the I-751 hasn't expired yet.
