one clinic and it is in Kiev.... cannot do it all in one day but can do it in two... med exam takes the better part of the morning and results are finished and picked up by 4PM... All interviews are scheduled in the morning....

YMMV

The only official medical exam location in Ukraine is in Kiev. Many people get their consulate appointment and then make the medical appointment for the day before. The medicals are given at 8am and take about 3 hours (depends on wait time) The results are available after 3 pm that same day.

You can make your medical exam as soon as you have your KEV number from the NVC, but if it involves travel many people wait until the day before the interview and get on done with one trip. Renting a flat for one night is cheaper than another round trip train ticket

Are you sure? I suppose if you are referring to a 1st class cabin ticket it might be close... Nonetheless, a much more convenient trip to do a layover.

Vika made two separate trips, one for medical and the other to interview after I arrived. She says she was happy that she didn't try to do all in one day. She stayed with cousins in Kiev, so cost wasn't really a consideration.

LOL. Depends I suppose. 2nd class is $45 (one way) from Donetsk, but that is deepest, darkest East Ukraine. Last August I rented a nice 1 room near the consulate for $65 per night. I do not even remember the one way fare from Odessa, I think it was about $25 (2nd class) but that was 3-4 years ago.
