On April 9, 2009 I got the email that my card production had been ordered. On April 13, 2009 my spouse received a phone call. They asked her her name and address then when she told them they informed her they were calling from Immigration. They then proceeded with questions of: what is your husband's full name, does he still live at the same address, where does he work, what is his date of birth? The last question was is everything OK? She of course answered all the questions of course he still lives here, and everything is fine, etc.

This seems highly irregular. Has this happened to anyone else? What would prompt such questions?

My wife's adult daughter is not fond of me. If she called immigration to complain about me, would this trigger a call like this? I can't think of anything else, especially AFTER receiving the notice of card production.

Any similar experiences are appreciated or if you have any ideaa what this was all about, I also appreciate your reply.

Congratulations abdirashid on your approval.

About your first question, no it's not a standard procedure as far i know. The

way they check is via the document you sent them. Since you mentioned that your step daughter is not fond of you,

it might be possible that she might have called USCIS. But since you got the approval notice and the email

and also your wife's response to them was positive and satisfactory, so It doesn't matter anymore and hope this

wont turn into anything bad.

Don't worry about it and I hope things will go well between you and your family.

Lookout for the physical card in the mail 1 week to 30 days from now

All the best to you and to your family.

Hi Abdirashid,

Congratulations on your recent VSC I-751 approval!

Onto the next stage of citizenship for you Abdirashid!

Ant (Still waiting for I-751, Still waiting for Baby...)

P.S. Oh my, it is definitely unusual for the USCIS to make "house phone calls" to applicants. Lol...You sure it wasn't someone else that called? It must have been such a shock to receive such a phone call! It was a good thing that they didn't ask for too much personal information there, as frankly you are not obligated to tell any stranger on the phone such private information (lol..think 'identity theft' and 'fraud' here...). Regardless, glad that you got approved, through this "USCIS mysterious phone call"....hhmmmmm....

"The USCIS certainly does work in mysterious ways, indeed...hmmm...."....

I'm afraid they would have hit a roadblock if I was the one receiving that call. I don't trust anyone calling to ask me my personal information.

Don't worry about the approval notice being received after the card production notice arrived. It happens all the time with all kinds of applications.

Congratulations on the approval! Don't worry about the order about GC order first or approval letter first. The most important thing is the GC, look out for it within 1-2 weeks. As long as the GC is in hand, don't worry about the strange phone call either, perhaps your step daugher did call USCIS and the IO just want to be sure of everything is still under normal, I mean not separated or divorced before they make the decision. Best wishes to you and your family in the future! :star:

I don't mean to be paranoid, but if I were you I would watch my credit cards and credit report carefully for a while. Your wife just handed out enough information to steal your identity. What if it was NOT USCIS on the otehr end of the phone?

On the safe side, never pick up a call if you don't know the number. Let them leave a voice mail.

On the other hand, what if it is really USCIS?

Later on, maybe immigration officers will pay a surprise visit to the house to check if the couple do live together.

*** It is vewry unusual for the IMMIGRATIONS to call you, next time it happens get theior number and extension and you will call them back and be polite about it and tell them you just being safe and neo tbeing scam. goodluck! Call the IMMIGRATIONS also so they can be aware of that because I don't recall of that and I have 5 relatives here to the US.
