I got my passport and K-1 visa from London two weeks ago. Today I lost my passport...or it was stolen. I'm not sure. I can't believe it. Crying as I type this. DAMN IT WHY DID THIS HAPPEN TO ME????????

What do I do?? I still have my sealed brown envelope but without the visa attached to my passport what good is it? Can a visa be reissued without going through the whole process again. What do I do?? PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

Calm down and take a deep breath.... call the Consulate that issued your Visa. You need to report your passport having been stolen immediately.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

You must report the stolen/loss passport inmediately. Unfortunately, the consulate will not replace a loss/stolen visa with a new passport. You must obtain a new passport and then have you fiance(e) petition for you again.

That's right. If your visa is loss once it is issued, no replacement visas are available. You must start all over from the beginning.

Breath, and think over where you were last with your passport, and how it could have gotten stolen or lost.

Are you 100% sure about this?

OP should report passport stolen to UK authorities asap - and also CHECK with US Embassy about visa - I know many years ago when i had a passport stoeln abroad, which contained a US visitor visa (before VWP) the US consulate in Sydney just re-issued the visa..that's the only reason I'm asking if you are 100% sure..

It depends. A K-1 requires an underlying petition to go with it. Once that petition has been used, they won't issue another visa on it. A visitor visa is different. There is no petition with it.

At best this person has to pay the visa fee and apply for a new K-1. At worse, he starts all over with the I-129F petition.

look everywhere even if you think you already looked there. look in places you wouldn't usually put anything. retrace every step. then have a drink and retrace again. in your excitement you may have let it slip? have a close friend/relative look for you. (you wouldn't believe where some of my "losts" have turned up.)

why do you think it may have been stolen? were you out? was someone in your home? (please don't say a jealous x) ask all you were with or who may have had access. leave a note pleading for it's return.

i am sending you good find-the-passport juju..........~>~~<~~~~~

OMG! That is an absoluate nightmare! BUT... the US gov't is aware that passports get stolen (though, granted, we don't know for sure that it was) and it seems really cruel of them to make you, the crime victim, suffer for what happened. The best bet is to report the missing passport ASAP to British authorities and call the US embassy at like 9AM Monday morning, or maybe even go there in person if you could, and tell them everything. Just try not to panic (I know that must seem SO hard right now) and look through every single bag, drawer, cabinet and cubbyhole in your house. Rummage through your garbage too.
