My fiance lives in Senegal and had his interview for the K-1 Visa at the embassy in Dakar. He is placed on administrative processing and as I'm reading messages from others it may be because he is Muselim. Does anyone know if that is true? or maybe because of his name, etc.

I had heard at one point, I thought, that if all the paperwork was in order once the interview happened they usually issued the Visa on the spot or the next day... We are very concerned about why he is on AP and the embassy will not give us any information. Is there a main Embassy office I could talk to to get more info about it?

thanks

Queeny, Magpie was also told that all of her paperwork was in order but that she would also have to be put on AP once her interview concluded. Here's a fun one, she also has a Muslim last name. She's also been to 13 different countries, 3 of which were Muslim, so we can only assume that she either got put onto AP because of her travels or because of her last name.

Upon the mountain of that which would undo us, our banner shall fly highest.

Could be his name is common, so it takes longer to process the AP. This is the top reason it happens.

Also depends where the embassy is located, the level of fraud, where the beneficiary is from, where they have been, if they are male, etc...

I would not say they are singled out just because they are Muslim. I have seen people get put in AP that are Christian or Jewish.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

thanks for the support. I guess I had some kind of false sense that it would be complete shortly after the interview... This waiting and not knowing is making me crazy...

Thanks for this info. Yes perhaps it's because of his last name. The Embassy is in Dakar Senegal and I not sure what the fraud rate is, etc. or if being put on AP is a common practice at this embassy... Thanks for the support.

unfortunately, this is common in your country. AP is shocking, confusing and frustrating at best. My husband is a Christian and was a Pastor, but still put on AP for back round check, document verification, and home visit. I couldn't have asked for a better check of my husband. That is looking on the bright side. At the time I did not feel that way.

It is part of the process. You are in a difficult embassy though. Hold on to faith and accept this as part of the process. Join the AP tracking thread. AT the link below. Lots of people going through what you are. It is extremely difficult if you are not informed about the process. Get informed trust your relationship and have faith in your higher power.
