Is anyone aware of any elected official that has taken up our cause...that can get USCIS's attention? USCIS just blows off my congressman.

My senators immigration specialist helped us BIGTIME. They can't expedite but can run down lost and overdue petitions.

Helped 2 of my friends also.

Also can find out why peeps are on AR more clearly.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

These same politicians are responcible for where we are now. Of course USCIS blows them off. Our politicians sit on these commities & what do they do? Nothing? They are part of the problem.

I tried the contact the politician bit & found out they are worthless. Isnt it interesting that they all have a trained staff to placate us? The infomation they do come up with is just about usless by the time they get it anyway. My Senator ( Finestine ) herself did nothing. Her staff did contact USCIS. They then sent me a letter to the wrong address. After 3 more calls to them they sent the letter to me. What the letter said was of no use to me & was so far out of date it was usless anyway. These letters are simply designed to placate us.

My case was " lost" & eventually took 402 days to be finished. during that time I recieved absolutly zero assistance from any government agency or politician.

Haole says that says his did a great job. Please let us know exactly what they did. How long did it take to get some info from them? How bout the two friends? Same Senator? What exactly did they do for the friends? Any info would be helpful to many of us. This is the only case I have seen where there has been a positive out come.

Sadly, legal immigration affects just a very small percentage of the US population, so it is not a priority for lawmakers.

In my wifes case[i-751] I put my adopted USC daughters name in Part 5 where it said to list all children. Shouldn't have as they send RFE wanting $80 more for biometrics thinking she had to remove conditions also. They didn't even look at the adoption decree or her US passport. I sent them letter explaining and after numerous calls to USCIS they still had my wifes petition on hold and hadn't sent the biometrics appointment letter. I did service request also with no luck.

I called Senator Dan Inouyes office and his immigration specialist contacted someone at USCIS and my wife got the biometric letter in a week.

Specialist also had assisted me before in getting my daughters passport. I'd tryed contacting the PP agency for a week in everyway available with no luck. She got results in one day.

One ofmy friends EAD was a long time overdue and the specialist got that moving also. Other friends AOS was "lost" and the specialist solved that problem also.

Needless to say I'm voting for Inouye next time around! My friends are also.

Forgot to mention they [inouye's office] found out exactly why I/fiance was denied years ago while petition was still at the embassy. Didn't do any good really as I didn't have any additional evidence to prove a bona fide relationship. They wanted more pictures and I'd only had a couple total.

Had picture with me and my fiance holding a newspaper and that was It. I thought you only had to prove you met in person in the last 2 years. Didn't realize you had to prove you were in love. Weren't in love anyway.

Impressive! Hell I'm moving to Hawaii & voting for him too. This is the only instance I have seen where they really did some good.

Thanks for letting us know.

I am new to this website and this is my first post.

Whether an elected official will be helpful depends upon the nature of your problem. If you don't understand the rules or the process has stopped because the ball is in your court and you haven't moved on it, your elected official will be unsympathetic. If the system has failed you despite reasonable effort on your part, then your elected official could be your best friend.

In 2003, my spouse visa application stalled for reasons no agency could tell me. I asked my congresswoman to intervene. Her assistant that specializes in immigration problems found out within 2 days that some bureaucrat somewhere had misspelled my wife's name during data entry. That resulted in the administrative process grinding to a halt. The congresswoman's office put it back on track, within a week.

Now, in 2009, I have a K-1 application (divorced last year from 2003 wife) that made it through NOA2 and the letter from NVC using the words "within a week" and "soon." My inquiries reveal that NVC sent the file weeks ago but the consulate in Bangkok never received it. "Lost file." Who is going to look for it? No one.

This is the sort of problem that no lawyer can straighten out, only someone with political influence who could cause job loss in the consulate management. A lost file, like a data entry error, is something an elected official can be very helpful in fixing. I will be contacting my congresswoman again tomorrow.

An elected official will not help you if you haven't followed the rules, submitted the necessary docs, want to get an exemption from the process that everyone else has to go through.

The best results in dealing with elected officials or government types generally is to make it as easy as possible for them to grasp your problem and take the appropriate action. A cover letter should not exceed a page, and should attach copies of any communications you have sent or received relative to the problem you want help on. Your letter should identify you as a constituent and as someone who votes and is politically active, preferably in the same party as the official.

Congresspersons are more accessible then senators. Sen. Feinstein represents 30 million Californians. Each congressperson in California represents about 700,000 people. Same in other states. Congresspersons are far more likely to help individual constituents.

Good luck.

I'm not sure if mine helped, after nearly 7 months of no word from uscis i contacted my congressman Loretta Sanchez and i heard back from her office right away. A couple weeks later i got my noa2 in the mail. I know Mrs Sanchez is heavily involved in immigration issues, but i'm not sure if she had anything to do with my approval or not. (in all honesty i think my file was lost somewhere n maybe her call prompted them to pick it up from under the dust tho i had called and made my own fruitless inquiries). I dont know, but i'm voting for her next time!
