Hi folks.

Maybe someone can help me with this one.

I came here from Ireland on a K-1 Visa last March, and married my lovely wife on St. Patrick's Day.

Long story short: I recieved the I-797 NOA on Sept 25th 2008 welcoming me to the USA as a permanent resident.

The only problem is, I never received the card.

My EAD is due to expire on August 1st, so obviously I'm more than slightly perturbed that I still don't have it.

After many calls to the USCIS Customer Service line, and a call or two to our local congressman, we're at our wits end waiting.

Any similar experiences or advice?

Thanks,

Peter

Here is a link to apply for a replacement card: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-90.pdf

If you can prove you are not at fault for the loss of the card, then you shouldn't have to pay. But it looks like if it was issued, mailed to you - then it's lost. So you have to apply for a replacement. Good luck. What a shame too, waiting all that time, doing the entire process, getting approved then nada! Ouch, that must hurt!

You may wish to make an Infopass appointment and receive the I-551 stamp in your passport that will act like your green card until you receive the actual card. That will be sufficient for you to continue to work (you shouldn't need your EAD once you get the green card) and will be proof of your legal status until you get your replacement card. You can make an infopass online at http://www.uscis.gov and selecting "Scheduling an appointment" in the right hand side column. Good luck.
