Hi guys... I passed my interview today.. I arrived 20mn before the interview time but got called almost an hour later. It was a really busy day at the DO. The interview itself only took about 10 mn... The officer was very nice. We went through the application to verify all information was correct, then look at tax transcripts and other supporting documents... I had brought two additional photos and the officer decided to use those instead of the ones I submitted with the n400. He said the ones i had submitted showed my shoulder and that they could have been rejected  .

Then we proceeded with the civic test.

Asked me to read: Who was the first president

Write: George Washington was the first president.

The questions asked were:

We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years?

How many voting member in the house of representative.

In what month do we vote for President?

Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now?

Name one war fought by the United States in the 1900s.

Who was the first President?

Then he stopped after the first 6 questions. Made copies of some of the supporting documents. Put the approved stamp on the application and gave the form that said I had passed the test and my application was recommended for approval. Said I will get the oath letter in the mail.

One more letter to get and I will be all done. :), fingers crossed, thanks to all April filers for sharing they experiences and time lines and everyone in this great forum :)

I went for my interview today and I PASSED!!!

Heres my report:

I arrived at the Newark office at about 9:30am, went in for my interview at 11:00 or so and my interview was about 10 mins if not less, the officer was really nice and funny, which calmed my nerves quite a bit, he asked me a few questions here and there proceeded with my name change then he asked me

the folowing questions:

1. In what month do we vote for a president?

2.Whos the speaker of the house?

3.Name on state that borders Canada.

4.When was the Declaration of Independence adopted?

5.What does the Constitution do?

And the last I cant remember!!

After asking me the 6 questions he asked me to read Who was Abraham Lincoln?

and then to write Abraham Lincoln was a president (or something like that lol)

He then congratulated me and told me I was approved and that my oath would be today @ 2:00pm

The Oath ceremony was great, a couple of videos and a song ( :ot: ...And I’m proud to be an American,

where at least I know I’m free...) :ot2: Then we were each called for our certificate!!

THATS ABOUT IT!

Thanks to everyone on this forum for sharing their stories, advice and support!!

Overall it was a great experience and I truly thank everyone for their stories, advice and support!!

Best of Luck to everyone!!!

Ella Rose.

Congrats! Great to hear everything worked out! Did they end up asking for any of those bank/credit card statements or more proof of address?

Also congrats on name change and same day oath :) I got to admit, that's one of the great things about Newark.

Congratulatoins Mr Puffy Bunny and EllaRose! that's great that you were able to get a same day ceremony, EllaRose!

lina-5 - are you going for an infopass appointment or for a citizenship interview?

If you are going for the citizenship interview bring along all of the originals of the documents you submitted with your application along with any other documents that prove you are eligible for citizenship (ie if through marriage, then proof of marriage and living together still, etc.). You will be personally interviewed by an Immigration Officer.

If you are going for an infopass appointment you will speak with an immigration officer but it won't be the officer who would interview you for citizenship. You won't get your citizenship interview at an infopass appointment. Bring along your proof of identity, your green card, make sure you have your alien number with you (they often use that to look up file information) and any documents related to why you requested the infopass appointment.

ok - some offices are slower than others in scheduling the oath ceremony. Certainly going for the infopass appointment won't hurt, although they may not be able to tell you more than 'you are in line waiting for an opening'. Where was your interview? If it is a smaller USCIS office they may only schedule oath ceremonies when they have enough people ready to take the oath. At the very least, the infopass can reassure you that everything is fine and you should be hearing something soon. Congratulations on your interview and good luck at the infopass.
