I nominate "The Time Traveler's Wife" or "Angels and Daemons" in honor of the movie coming up, or "The Winter King" since I'm about to re-read it.

There's free books at gutenberg.org . Most of them are classics. It would be a good way for everybody to get the same book. I would join up, but I'm teaching 40 hours a week. I just don't have the time.

Wow, I love you. (L)

Thank you for showing me this website! I left my copy of Emma at home and I only have like three more chapters until I finish it! I didn't want to bring it to Brazil just for 3 chapters...but now I can finish it! Plus, this is great. I wont have to buy so many books because I can read lots of them on here.

Thank you again!! :)

And it sounds like just a couple more nominations until we have enough to vote on! yay!

lol... Or how about Ulysses, by James Joyce -

Heres some others

1. 1984, by George Orwell 42%

2. War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy 31%

3. Ulysses, by James Joyce 25%

4. The Bible 24%

5. Madame Bovary, by Gustave Flaubert 16%

6. A Brief History of Time, by Stephen Hawking 15%

I have actually read 3 of them, I loved one, hated one and was bored by the other.

Got Life of Pi and The Red Tent out of the library at lunch today, but I'll still read whatever the group picks, even if it is a tome like War and Peace.

I took a Bible as Literature course in HS (Old Testament), which is the only way I would've been exposed to it as I was raised by a pair of atheists. We didn't read the whole thing... at least I didn't... It was OK, but there are a lot of other books I'd rather read. I do want to read the texts of some other religions, like the Qu'ran for example, someday.

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

Well....I wanted this to be fun and not like some school assignment so I am asking that we not choose a book that may take the rest of my life to read!

War and Peace is dull and boring. Don't even bother, I only mentioned it because it is notoriously hard to finish.

war and peace a great book..but hard to read..5 pages on a meadow is too much

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
