I didn't mean that you should take credit or not for the validity. All I meant was, if you find this stuff interesting, try to find more valid sources of information. The Sun just isn't that credible. Even in the article you cited they say:

The figure appears to be in period costume, but we know 100 per cent that Tantallon Castle is not the sort of place that has dummies or costumed guides; they just don’t go in for that sort of thing.

“I suppose it could be a visitor looking a little bit strange. Perhaps someone will come forward. Another possibility is an odd reflection of sunlight, but it does look very like a person. The explanation is not obvious.”

There is no need to go looking for ghosts in this instance.

I have personally seen "ghosts" before. I know that all I have is my one convictions as proof and I have no idea if it was a "spirit" of something else but in my mind it was something real and not imagined.

I love all this Paranormal stuff.

I believe my childhood home in Quebec was haunted- I remember vividly some strange things that happened in that house. I didn't find out until years after we had moved out of that house that the previous owner had died there.

I have also had a few strange things happen here in my husbands house. More so in my early days here. My mother and sister both had experiences when they were here as well. My mother in law is convinced this house is haunted. It's nothing scary or bothersome though- even my mom and sister weren't too bothered by it.

I don't know- I do believe yet I am still a little skeptical. I have never seen what I truly believe to be a real ghost so I'm not 100% convinced. The whole subject really is quite fascinating to me though.

Regardless if it has been photoshopped or not, in order to enlarge it the software must make a guess as to the next pixel size to add to a missing pixel. For example, consider a piece of fabric. Lets say you stretched it out so much and you start to see the square shape holes. In order to make it resemble the color and texture of the cloth, you need to specify something to put in those squares.

A computer works similarly. However, it takes the average total of colors from nearby pixels and place it inside those squares. That is why many small MP digital cameras reveal jaggedness when you enlarge them.

As far as this picture is concerned, the so called three experts has no experience in how pixels work.

Lewis and Clark College is where I went to school. I worked in the library late at night for 2 years. Many strange things happened there. I worked for the Alton School district for 8 years and after they closed down Milton school we used it for storage and as my shop. One of my jobs was installing security systems in the buildings and I installed one in Milton. It was constantly going off even though there was never anyone found inside. Many times I was called in the middle of the night to "fix" it because the police was getting tired of answering the call. That place was VERY spooky. You would hear footsteps and voices when I KNEW there was no one else in the building. It really gave me the creeps.

Funny, I installed alarms in over 20 buildings in the district and that was the only one that gave me problems.

From what I understand from this post, your interest in the 'unexplainable' is sparked by personal experience, so you look for other 'similar' experiences to shore up as it were your own experience, to give it added weight and credulity for your own satisfaction. That's great, not a bad idea but for this to be a useful example all the normal and rational explanations must be able to be eliminated in order for the irrational or abnormal explanations to come into play. In this instance the most obvious normal and rational explanation has not been eliminated that is some odd looking bloke happened to get into his photo.

I am not so sure one can even go very far into the realm of 'odd looking' either. The bloke looks fairly normal, ok so his shirt collar is a bit big and?
