Just wondering the easiest way to buy my huny's airline ticket here (ONE-WAY :D )

aww congrats! I think she could take a look and do a price research on brazilian sites like http://www.voegol.com.br http://www.tam.com.br And if you want to buy from the states you can also visit sites like http://www.orbitz.com http://www.expedia.com. There are many others, I've heard buying two-way tickets are cheaper, but I don't know if you can do that with a K1 visa, if they won't misinterpret that you know, so you should ask first.

august 2004 I-129 filed (neb)

DEC 2004 Approved

interview: SEOUL

MArch 21st , 2005AR for special security clearance,washington

May 18th tranfer case from Seoul to Islammabad

June 21st security clearance done

June 28th online at the embassy in Islamabad

waiting for paper transfer and the good word

OCTOBER 14TH 2005 Interview Number 2: ISLAMABAD, PK

AR number 2 sent to DOS per Islamabad (2 cable request)

Nov 22 okd updated financial and etc proof accepted / embassy waiting for security cables

dec 20th one cable back waiting on 2nd

Jan 17th.. good word recieved. SECURITY CHECKS ALL CLEAR!!! DOS says embassy to contact him within two weeks!!!!!!

FEBRUARY 10th, 2006 VISA RECIEVED!!! They called him In via phone, stamped his passort and sent him on his way!!!

FEB 28th WELCOME HOME>>>POE CHICAGO did not even look at xray, few questions. one hour wait at Poe

march 10th marriage (nikkah at the islamic center)

aug 2006 AOS interview, cond 2 yr GC arrived september

June 2008 applied for removal of conditions on permant residency aka awaiting for 10 yr greencard

Dec 2008 10yr green card approved, no interview.

use a website, like travelocity or expedia, get an idea of cost, then call a travel agent and see if they can do better. most of the times, they can.

I tried these online sites and they don't let me book a flight departing internationally. I guess I will just go to the airport and see if i can buy it here....and he can pick it up at the airport counter in Rio.

He should have his visa in the next few weeks *fingers-crossed*

that's strange, because i have read about many other's doing it that way. I still think travel agents are the best way to go, since they can still get better discounts. it's worth a shot, and doesn't cost you anything to try.

Some sights let you book online, and some don`t . I know that you can book international flights on Expedia and Orbitz because I have done so before. (Orbitz is usually slightly cheaper than Expedia, but look at the connection times carefully.....sometimes they give you a layover of just 45 minutes or so).

You are right, that some sights don`t let you buy international flights departing from outside the USA....like Hotwire.....or Priceline.

I just tried to check a one way ticket from Rio on Expedia, and it was fine.

I would definately keep trying online (or other options) before going to the airport to buy a ticket, which will probably be more expensive, not to mention time consuming. (I just departed from an airport 3 weeks ago...and it was PACKED!....summertime....and lines are huge! :o )

Feb 28, 2007 NVC received "checklist" response and original documents for the RFE

March 13, 2007 Case completed at NVC! Whoooohoooo!! Ankara, here we come!!!!

March 15, 2007 Case fowarded to Ankara Embassy

April 4, 2007 Interview. Wife gets handed the little green paper. Not good. Need to submit a few more things.

April 9, 2007 Items mailed back to Embassy. Crossing fingers, rubbing the "rabbit's foot", etc,..that this may FINALLY be the end.

April 14, 2007 Visa delivered! Wife is finally going to be on her way back home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 20, 2007 Wife enters through JFK. The days of grabbing my dinners at the WalMart deli....are now officially over!!!

You can book directly with the airline as well, over the phone, with credit card.

I WAS gonna use cheaptickets.com (which are US based) as I used them before and had good service, but having called US Airways (I'd prefer to use AA but they don't fly direct to CLT darnit! lol), London Office, I found the price is really no 'better' going thru the agency for one-way, plus my contract (the ticket purchase) will be DIRECTLY with the airline and not the travel agent, so that's one less middleman to deal with if there are problems.

Sept 2002 - 1st US visit - everything goes perfectly.

Dec 20th - Forms recev'd at CSC

Dec 27th - NOA1 received by snail mail!

Dec 29th - 'Touched'

March 10 2006 - NOA2!

March 23 - recv'd at NVC

March 24 - petition sent to London

April 9th - Pkt 3 rec'd!

May 17th - Pkt 3 signed for at London Embassy

May 24th - Medical

May24th - Pkt 4

June 14th - Interview 10am - APPROVED 1pm!!

June 16th - Visas received in my hot little hands 1pm :)

July 19th - flying to US!

July 27th - Married!! :-)

Aug 7th - Applied for SSN in married name

Aug 9th - SSN received

Do look at the round trip flight costs as well - they may be cheaper and no one says you have to use the return portion of the flight.
