Feinstein: Keep solar/wind energy facilities out of Mojave Desert

I'm not certain, but I was under the impression that all that was being asked was that a portion of the desert was allowed to remain unsullied by human presence (always disruptive of wildlife) so that the desert fauna and flora have a chance to survive, diversity of species and all that. Seems sensible to me, and even more sensible to leave the portion of the desert that was donated for that purpose to be used for that purpose. Lot's a fuss over nothing, which even reading the article tells you :)

There seems to be a clash among the "Greens" on wind-power.

While in principle they are all for it, in practice not.

As it so happens, one cannot just place the "wind farms" just anywhere they are only suited to certain places, too often those places are located where Green folks do not want them.

For example how many people along the shore line would want hundreds of these things in front of there beach home or in the bay>

Along the Apalach. Mountains some "environmentalists" fought tooth and nail to prevent these eye sores from destroying the mountain top View.

Even the Soon expired Sen. Kennedy stood in the way of some in his neck of the woods too.

what about the desert birds/

#### the desert birds. If they can't fly away they deserve to be mincemeat. J/K

I wish turbines this big could be shielded by a giant screen or something without cutting down on the turbine's efficiency. Save the birdies too.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

That's what comes with lumping everyone together as 'green' or 'environmentalist', you find the world doesn't make sense. Who knew?

Here's a helpful pointer, lumping everyone who doesn't agree with your point of view as 'librul' causes similar dysfunction.

Just show them the price tag difference between traditional energy costs vs more green energy costs once the systems are matured beyond startup. Enough said.

and desert birds...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Should also outlaw windows, seem to have a couple of birds or more per year try to fly though my closed patio doors or through the front picture window. But yet many birds are aware of the presence. Maybe only the dumb birds are killing themselves, or the old ones going blind. Vehicles are yet another hazard to birds, should outlaw those too.

What about that rain-x stuff that makes your car glass seem absent? Poor birdies.

To be honest maybe we can engineer more flexible, absorbent window material that would not kill birdies flying at full speed at glass. Maybe just stun them a bit.

Marilyn posted something regarding birdproofing glass, I am sure of it. I don't remember the details now, but it was an excellent idea, it seemed at the time anyway :)

I see Steven avoided this thread.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
