Hello,

My wife and I will be going the B2 route. She has all the qualifications to go abroad as a tourist on a tourist visa. My question is, how much does she need to have in her bank account to proove to the officer at the embassy during the interview that she is financially able to go to the US for a period of time?

Information greatly appreciated!

The larger question is whether she has significant assets in the Phils that require her to return home -- bank accounts, a home, a solid job, family, etc. etc. Coming to the US on a tourist visa with the real intention of staying here is committing fraud. It is difficult, if not almost impossible, for a Filipina to obtain a tourist visa to the U.S. if she has no husband to return to.

It's not only about the money. She should reasons to come back in the Philippines -- a business, a high position in a company, a work with a strict contract compliance, a child, etc.

I got friends who passed B2 visas. Most of them passed because they applied as a family (mom, dad, siblings) and about 500,000pesos in bank account and are business owners.

Because she's your "wife", she actually may not qualify for a B2 visa as her immigrant intent will be presumed. You say "going the B2 route". Route to accompish what? If you live and work in the PI too, visiting the US together might have a chance.
