This is for Norway, but in my experience Norway and Sweden do a lot of things the same way, so... My insurance company told me that if I didn't change my home address, my Norwegian travel insurance would still cover me for 90 days. However, as Maria said, you're supposed to notify them when you move.

Also, consider that if something were to happen to you in the US, your home country insurance company might see it as cheaper for them to bring you there for treatment - in which case you might end up effectively abandoning your AOS application. Note that I haven¨t checked this last part with any insurance companies, but it's what I've read around the 'net.

So my thinking is better safe than sorry - I'm getting insurance in the US. :)

Yes, this is highly possible especially since healthcare is expensive in US they would rather bring you home. My ER visit in the US was worth 3 one-way tickets back to Sweden... I would just recommend getting an insurance in the US. You never know what could happen.

Thank you guys. I think I will go with the better safe than sorry. Injurance upon arrival it is :no:

Good plan! And by the way: there's no such thing as stupid questions around here :)

Great idea on the FB group!

I've seen a document about the medical details which list a doctor in Malmö for Swedish residents, and some where there's only Gothenburg and Stockholm. Anyone who can straighten up what the new deal is?

I'm also from Malmo. Just completed my medical in Stockholm and waiting to fly back down. Unfortunately, the doctor in Malmo retired so it's only Gothenburg and Stockholm to choose from now. It was pretty easy to get from the airport to the x-ray clinic to the medical at the other clinic and back to the airport.

I was so chocked at the prices for the blood test to show immunity though. If you know you got the vaccinations but don't have the record to prove it, do the immunity blood test at your doctor in Malmo. It's more than half the price.

Thanks for the heads up! Mine is booked for next week, fortunately I am able to stay with my sister so it won't be too expensive.

The only thing that might be of a concern is that I don't have any hard evidence of having chicken pox, but the lady at the clinic said that I wouldn't have to do the blood immunity test as long as I knew the year I had it... we'll see. How much did you pay for the immunity test if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to prepare as much as I can haha

And you were unable to request them from the clinic, hospital or school where you first got the vaccinations? That sucks :/

Yes as long as you know approximately when you had chicken pox they don't care. They won't do a blood immunity check. At least they didn't on me though I had it like 2 years ago :P

Had my medical today in Stockholm since Gothenburg doctor is on holiday and first available time was in mid August... Typical since I live in Gbg but anyway. Called last week and got a time today which was great since I was visiting a friend in Sthlm this weekend. It all went easy and took about an hour. (did xray yesterday since I had a 8.20 time today) Had all my vaccination cards in order and only needed a Td booster. My mom also signed a paper when I had chickenpox. Since she has written a diary her whole life she had the exact date ?

My case was approved on June 2nd so I haven't got my NVC case number yet but there was no problem having the medical without it if anyone was thinking about that. I just put my WAC number instead.

Good luck to everyone on their journey! ☺️

And they were cool with that even though the specifically asks for the STK number? Both when you schedule the appointment and when you fill out the form?

Yea they didn't have a problem with that. Though I'm not sure if it will cause me any problem when they send it to the embassy but I hope not since they said it was ok.

Well that's good :) And it shouldn't be a problem at the embassy since you can use either of the numbers in your DS-160.

Well, you haven't really "moved" because until you marry and file the I-130, you aren't considered an immigrant...
