I believe that is just for India as I noticed according to most threads. Check and see if Pakistan needs one. Our consulate does NOT. It varies by country.

your mean original Marriage certificate, copy of passport both pages, original birth certificate rite.. and u said send 1 copy of each extra. rite..

.. i guess i will do thats.. thats better idea.. thanks agian.. CONFIRM THIS FOR ME

The originals will be returned to you at the time of the interview. The additional copies will become a part of your file

when we were sending our documents to NVC we talk to NVC and they told us not to send photocopies, they confuses them with the originals. There is no point of sending photocopies also because there is no requirement from NVC, why they take $400. So my suggestion is do not send them phtotocopies of the originals along with them it just increase there work to arrange them and they don't like.

we didn't send them any copies of originals along with them (only passport though).

Order your packet like this:

BarCode Cover sheet

Personal letter explaining about your documents inside. (see attachment for sample letter which we sent them, it will help them to understand sequence)

DS-230

Photocopy of the Biographic Data Pages

Certified Birth Certificate of beneficiary

Notarized Translation of Birth Certificate of beneficiary (I know your Birth certificate would be in Hindi, we are from same state)

Certified Marriage Certificate

Divorce Certificate

Police Clearance Certificate from Regional Passport Office for Beneficiary

Police Clearance Certificate from District of Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, India for Beneficiary

If you are still confuses than let me know because we have the same embassy and same state

I am sending you my cell no so you can call me. I would love to be you attorney haha......just kidding

ALL,

please be sure to send photocopies of all documents along with your originals to the NVC. it has been specifically asked by NVC. dont just let it go, this is serious business and everything (in my opinion) must be done according to their requirements. please read all requirements before sending any paperwork. also, dont rush into sending any paperwork for the sake of getting your file out the door. do remember that incomplete files will land you with more delays instead. take your time with the paperwork and try to get it done right the first time. good luck to all:)

how it is possible that NVC ask you to send photocopies of all the originals and they did not tell us. Do they tell two different things to two different people. they specifically told us that they don't require photocopies. If anyone wants to send than its up to them

You will not get an RFE for photocopies if you send them and you will not get RFE either if don't send them. (it doesn't make any scene)

Agreed. It may not result in an RFE if you do not send the photocopies but why take that chance if that is what they request. From the Department of Stae website:

Original Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity).

Photocopy Requirement

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

Okay, you may want to try to hurry which the hurry can delay your process if ur midssing something. Send every documents you have certified or true copy. If your missing something, it will only delay your case. If ur divorce, u need the divorce decree, cenomar or cemar ( certified of not married or certified of married ), don't do half job as it will DELAY your case.... also dont forget to include your Coversheet and coverhead as it make it easier for the staff to review, here is an example... goodluck...

Photocopy Requirement

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html for Appointment Post.

"OBX" I respect your answer,

According U.S.D of states website you are right. I am not saying that someone should not send the photocopies of originals. This thread can be for Passports photocopy. I didn't send them any photocopy except passport as NVC operator said to us. That was not our decision, we wanted to send them photocopies though.

I wanna share few things which happen with us and misguided us because of websites.

First thing regarding U.S.D of sate website----

According to New Delhi embassy website which operated by U.S.D of state, Says this http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/ivfamilybaspetitionus.html, please read it.

this come under slandered post not in appointment post. . You can even check on NVC website also http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3830.html. NWD is nowhere in there list for appointment post. but when we called NVC they told us that New Delhi embassy is in Appointment post not in Slandered post anymore, Ignore the website because it has an old thread, NVC and New Delhi embassy both operator said the same thing.

Second most important which caused us RFE for Marriage Certificate in USCIS and a lot of money to settle it. but whom to blame...

http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/acsmarr.html

Regarding marriage certificate

this thread is from "If the parties are married in a Christian, Muslim, Parsi, Jewish, Baha'i or other religious ceremony, the certificate issued by the religious authority (e.g., the church's marriage certificate, the mosque's nikah nama, etc.) generally is sufficient proof of marriage, and no certificate from the marriage registrar is necessary."

Result, we gave them church certificate and the Pastor has license to marry also which we included in the packet. but they send us an RFE saying please submit a Civil Authority Letter or a Certificate form Registrar. (My wife was in usa at that time and had to come back for all this problem) they give us only one month to settle it and it was really tough time.

My suggestion is that you call NVC or USCIS as many time as possible before you sending them anything. They will correct it for you and tell you the exact thing.

Regards,

Arun
