Good luck traveling Jess.

For all of those hubby's looking for jobs, good luck to you as well. My husband will be on the prowl and actually we are already putting in applications online for him now. He did get a call back from one he put in 5 months ago.

Unfortunately, it may be location but I work for a very large chain of hospitals and we are getting hit hard with layoffs. It doesn't matter if you are a techy geek like me, manager, radiologist or nurse here. Times are just bad.

Happy Friday MENA (F)

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm just blah...

Need some prayers and good thoughts our way...if you're sending ... we are taking.

Praying for you Annie. I haven't heard from you in awhile.

There are a few hospitals going through that here too. I also work for a large chain of hospitals and although we're basically putting a halt to any capital projects that had been planned so far knock on wood we haven't had to do the layoffs yet. The job that I briefly worked at a few years ago is laying off their entire dept! That was a University. Basically they relied very heavily on donations and due to that Maddoff dude donations are no longer coming in.

I think for the most part though the healthcare jobs are still the most dependable. My dad always told me to rely on anything to do with death and taxes. That's why I became an accountant. I actually tried to convince my husband to go into the funeral home business! He declined.

I know...I have been hiding out a bit. Tired, busy with babies and things are a bit bumpy...just laying low.

I must say that middle pic warms my heart!!!!!! Totally frameable!!!

I must confess I almost became a mortician years ago  It was between a pharmacist and a mortician and I never did either of them.

Hopefully, it will not get to you Bridget. With GM closing their doors here southwest Ohio will probably become a ghost town.

Annie, whatever the probs are I hope that things settle for you. (F)

We have a close family friend who has been in the business for 40 years. You would not BELIEVE the pranks that they would play on people in the funeral home. Many years ago, people would sleep at the funeral homes because they were also ambulance drivers. This guy told me how they would set up threads in the attic to make new people think there were ghosts.

He also did confirm that gasses do escape the dearly departed and he said that was always unsettling.

Allousa, my dad used to work at a funeral home and he was the ambulance driver as well. He put himself through college that way - he used to live at the funeral home because they had an apartment there for him. He said that the noises the dead make could scare the ####### out of you. Some from the mouth, some from the posterior.

I'm so skittish that I can't even watch COMMERCIALS for the show "Paranormal State" on A&E...I have to leave the room, mute it or just change the channel.

I'm pretty sure this cuts out this particular career path for me!
