This, and the next part of the Preamble, are the culmination of everything that came before it - the whole point of having tranquility, justice, and defense was to promote the general welfare - to allow every state and every citizen of those states to benefit from what the government could provide. The framers looked forward to the expansion of land holdings, industry, and investment, and they knew that a strong national government would be the beginning of that.

Uncle Teddy has finally converted Arnold to the darkside. The Governator is now the Goobernator! All those steriods have done their evil work, and dissolved his resolve. There is a new "girlie-man" in Sacramento. Arnie is now Annie!

...and this is why the Republican Party is pushing itself towards irrelevance. Might as well hang a sign on GOP headquarters that says, "Extremists ONLY! No moderates allowed." Sad for the party....sad for this country.

It depends on how you define extreme. Extreme to me means clenching your fist around an ideology no matter what the circumstances are...and refusing to think outside the box for a solution.

No, Stina...not at all. There are moderate Republicans out there and there are even some really good Conservative Republicans out there as well. In the case of California and the Governor - the state Republicans refused to support a bipartisan budget (it was drafted by the Dems, Repub leaders and the Governor) because it included increasing taxes. They didn't have an alternative proposal either. Instead, they thumbed their noses up, held the state hostage, costing us additional billions of dollars because projects (critical to running the state) had to be put on hold or stopped. That to me is pure extremism - and I've seen other examples of it within the Republican Party nationally.
