hi

my fiancee doesnt have a US social security (shes never been here) and also she does not have an alien registration number (not that we know of). so we left those two spaces blank in the form. now looking back at it perhaps it would have been better to write 'none'? does it make a difference? we wont get a RFE because of this will we?

anybody else have any experience with leaving 'blanks'?

The instructions I have read associated with USCIS forms say to use N/A or none. I have seen posts where the petitioner received an RFE for leaving a question blank.

i left a few blank also ...!

The directions usually tell you what to do - whether to write N/A or NONE.

You may be ok or you may get an RFE. I'd redo the forms leaving no blanks so that you'll be ready to send them off just in case you do get an RFE.

You are now at the mercy of whoever handles your file. The instructions say not to leave any answer blank. By doing so you create a question in their mind. Did she ever have an SSN? Did she ever use another name? The answer is not given. You could easily receive an RFE, or maybe not, depends how strictly the adjudicator follows the rules. Generally use the terms "none", "NA" or "unknown" as is appropriate. There IS one area you can leave blank. On the I-134 if your income exceeds the guidelines, you can leave any information regarding assets blank. All other forms should be filled in completely.

You will not be rejected or denied, but the problem with RFEs is they can add weeks to the process. Many people get an RFE rather quickly, then answer it right away and find they wait many weeks or months after that to finally get approved.

My guess is you will get an RFE for the blank "name" answer at minimum. How can they check her visa records or even if she is a beneficiary on another visa (it happens) if they do not have other names she may have used? I doubt they will assume she just didn't have any other names.

Hello Fellow members. I have a quick question.

My fiancee is filling up the DS-156 (which might be a little newer than what others have been using in this forum and definitely newer than the DS-156 example) for her interview preparations and for question 22 (22. When Do You Intend To Arrive In The U.S.?

(Provide specific date if known)

Day is a text field

Month is a drop down menu

Year is a text

This question looks too important to leave blank.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Interview date is 3/12......can we put the day after? Pls help

Correct answer is "unknown, upon visa approval" Hand write it if you must.
