I am a UK citizen who met my Girlfriend a U.S Citizen in UK Over a year ago. Within this year she spent 6 months in the UK with me over the summer and since then have visited her 3 times this being the 3rd upon this visit we realized we couldn't be apart again so plan on getting married next week. I just have a few questions. How do I then apply for citizenship and also how soon after this can I work(Rent needs paying etc.) Please help.

Kind Regards

Josh

If you are already married and in USA - you can apply for AOS or CR1 (CR1 - you will go back to UK and wait for the green card). If you are in UK then she can do a K3 or CR1. Note that you can't apply for citizenship now. First you apply for the green card (also called AOS - Adjustment of Status - its par tof the K3 or CR1 process) - when you are a permanent resident for 5 years you can apply for citizenship. Also if you stay married to the US citizen then you can apply after 3 years of your permanent residence (actually 90 days prior to that). Read up on the Guides on the site - they will help you get started. Good Luck

Well If there was NO intention when u entered in the US ... youre not breaking any rule.

About Overstaying... you should file before your I-94 expires.

You will get your EAD (Employment Authorization) *around* 90 days after they have received your application.
