It would be highly unlikely if they asked for 2008 but would be a nice thing to have!

Got to do them anyway! One less thing to worry about.

Hi all,

My wife's interview is on March 11th. Will they ask her for the 2008 Federal Tax Return during her interview??? Thanks in advance for your help.

I would go ahead and file my 2008 tax return. As there is a high possibility that the embassy might ask for it. I know few instances in my country's embassy where they ask for latest tax return papers though April 15 is not over yet. Good luck.

Depends on the embassy. A lot of them won't require 2008's returns until near or after April 15th. If they do ask for 2008's info, a W-2 and/or other documents should suffice.

Since the filing deadline is April 15, I doubt it. But why not file and have it ready?

For that matter, it is not even necessary to "file" the return. Prepare it, attach the w-2s, 1099s whatever you attach and make a copy of it. If you want to wait until the last minute to send it in, go ahead. If you attach w-2s, 1099s, etc you do not need a transcript from the IRS, a photocopy will do.
