Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm Sam, the female, US, half of Sam & Rasta. I'd been traveling to Jamaica for many years and always used to dream of one day finding myself a true Rasta man. Even when I traveled with my late husband (he was 13 years older than me) to Jamaica I used to tell him "if I find my Rasta, I'm not going home". Well last July (my husband was still alive), I traveled to Jamaica with my girlfriends and a Jamaican friend of mine said he had a Rasta for me to meet. I thought what the hell, what happens in Jamaica stays in Jamaica, and I'm not proud to say but, my marriage of 27 years had lost its spark a long time ago and I didn't feel like I had much to lose.

I had met many Rastas during my trips to Jamaica, but when I met Talbert (I just call him Rasta), well it was love at first sight! We were inseparable the whole week and when I came home we talked on the phone everyday. I wondered how I could possibly pursue this relationship and if I was crazy for even considering it! I'm convinced that Jah stepped in because 5 days after returning from my trip, my husband of 27 years died of a sudden heart attack. I was in shock!

To make a long story short, I've made several trips to Jamaica since then and spent countless hours on the phone. As a Rasta, he has called me his wife, his queen, since consumating our relationship. We decided last November that we were meant to be and decided to make it official; we were married this past January 19th. Now the immigration journey begins!

I'm still waiting for our marriage certificate, but have the I-130 about ready to go! I've been lurking on this site for awhile and can't thank everyone enough for the insight you've provided so far.

Bless,

Sam

So you think God killed your husband so that you could run off with a Jamacian?? O...K... I hope my husband never gets it in his head to run off with a Jamacian.

Well, welcome to VJ anyway.
