Should US change immigration policy in light of job losses?

I'm seeing numbers like 50K per year limit on work visas, and do get one of those, need a list of degrees or be some kind of famous ballet dancer. A limit of 50,000 on the lottery, pull a number out of the hat. USCIS claims they processed 140,000 I-751's last year, not sure if that covers I-130 applications for family members, do know it covers spouses. Tourist visas don't count, can't work with those. How else can people come here legally to work? And not all spouses work.

600,000 applied for USC before the new rate increase, but many have put it off for years, ha, and that rate increase had to take place while we were processing causing further delays.

The people here illegally do not count, that is a different problem, our state started e-verify last year as have many others, employers can get some pretty stiff fines if caught, and most do not want to even take the chance of getting caught so will either not hire and will dismiss those that cannot prove they are legal to work here.

Does anyone know of news source that doesn't sensationalize or make mountains out of molehills?

Meanwhile, there are millions and millions of legal and illegal immigrants who have jobs in this country. These job losses also come at a time when President Obama is under increasing pressure from Hispanic groups, who helped get him elected, to loosen up on the more aggressive immigration policies of the Bush administration. They’re calling on the new president to push for comprehensive reform that would balance law enforcement with new legal avenues to citizenship.

The Democrats will pass some kind of amnesty to cement Hispanics as permanent feature in their political base.

Getting reelected is more important than what is best for the USA and US citizens.

As long as fools see Dims as "change" rather than a flip side of the same worthless coin...just bend over and take it. And hand them the K-Y so it won't hurt as much as it will.

Astroglide is much better.

The House version of the Stimulus Package mandated E-Verify be used by employers that took federal stimulus dollars. The Senate version axed that requirement. The final version of the Stimulus Package will allow employers to continue to hire illegal aliens. There is no protection for American workers and your tax dollars will be used to build infrastructure with illegal alien labor. The American worker has been fvcked again. How's that for change. Sounds like the same old sh*t to me.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
