Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

He's 25, and he has adjusted well so far, better than I anticipated. It would be interesting if the poll compared how well each age range has adjusted, although that would be pretty subjective.

I honestly think temperament is the key to some of these age gap relationships. Both of us are on the shy, quiet, serious side - in Nepal we enjoyed going to a dohori club sometimes but otherwise neither of us is the party type plus neither of us smokes or drinks. If he were what some people think is they typical '20something guy' who likes to bar-hop and party well then it wouldn't work out - we would rather go someplace peaceful and natural or stay home and watch the Discovery Channel.

Exactly. My husband and I are the same way. We don't smoke, drink, or get into the party scene. Makes me glad he had the conservative upbringing he had. However, he does have 100 times the energy I do. I think he has 100 times the energy of other people his age too! lol

He's 30...was 28 when he got here. In terms of age he should've had his act together but living at home having his sisters wait on him didn't help. No one telling him "no" didn't help either. IMO ppl should have to live on their own, completely, for at least a solid year before they get married.

Maybe birth order would have something to do with it? (He's the youngest son and the fifth out of six kids.) His mom's also pretty self-sufficient and physically active (has climbed trees and killed snakes as an adult -- I love this woman), and I get the impression she taught her sons to pitch in around the house when needed, or at least to clean up after themselves in the bathroom, etc. The women did wait on the men a good bit there, but when he arrived here, he didn't seem to expect that from me (except in the sense that he waits on me and enjoys it when I do the same).

I agree with you on this one. My husband and I were both previously divorced so we knew how this thing called marriage works or what not to do wrong. I think him being older and more mature with his thinking and less controlling works wonders in our marriage. Don't get me wrong, he had been waited on before and doesn't always keep the cleanest home when I am gone but he can feed himself and do for himself and his son 98% of the time.

ya maybe so. Yazied is the oldest of 5.

His mom works and she is constantly telling him "when you get there, you remember she works and is a mother..help her!" :luv: I love my MIL!

All of his aunts pin him down when they get the chance and give him "pointers" too lol
