Who here bought (guys)or received (girls) an engagement ring? And if no engagement ring, do you have your wedding rings picked? Or at least an idea of what you want?

I bought Joanna an engagement ring. I proposed Christmas Eve when I was in Poland. We have not picked out wedding bands yet.

Yes, I think I have one at home... for the life of me I can't remember the name of the jeweler right now! grrrrrr, I hate getting old sometimes :)

The ring didn't fit.. so she was wearing in the middle finger... but when she was here, I had it sized... so now she has it on the ring finger :)

Aww, that's ok...hehe!

Cool! I'll only have the wedding band....in the Netherlands they really don't do engagement rings. Pat and I both wear a matching ring on our right hand that they call a commitment ring. It's really pretty...done by a jewelry store called James Avery.

I'm a January filer, but I had to wait a bit longer and got approved along with you February filers... so I might give an update here! I had my interview Monday, which went really smoothly, they only asked about my previous stays in the US (I've lived there for almost six years) and what my fiancé does for a living and if he has visited me here. Everybody was super friendly in Frankfurt. Now I'm waiting for the visa in the mail. Meanwhile, I'm already preparing for the big move... Will still have to figure out whether to ship stuff with a container ship, or by mail. I have a lot of books to take, but not much else.

Liz, I really liked your kitchen floor! Very cool red.

Congratulations!!

And thank you..hehe!

May I ask, what part of Germany are you from? I lived there for 4 years (1 in Karlsruhe and 3 in Bamberg) and LOVED it!

Thanks! I'm from Berlin. What did you do in Germany?

I wouldn't turn an engagement ring down..hehe...but I just LOVE our bands and think they really don't need anything extra with them!

Oh cool...never did make it that far up while there. My ex-husband was in the Army and we were stationed there....so gorgeous!

philosykos- congrats on an easy interview. You are welcome to join in our Feb. family. We have plenty of room for you here.

Liz- My friend won his fight and get a little bonus for fight of the night. It was a great fight. Although I would have preferred it to have been more one sided, but Dan still won and thats good enough.

We didn't do engagement rings. Not a big deal for Oksana, because they don't typically have them in Russia. Going back to my whole being emotionally retarded the proposal was the most unromantic moment of my life. In fact I still can't believe she said yes. On my third trip to see her I was making breakfast and I had every intention of proposing that day. She was sitting in the kitchen watching me cook and we were talking and I am still not sure how it happened. While I had my back to her I just sort of blurted out that we should get married. She said ok and that was that. I didn't even realize at the time how just bad that was. I would like to point out emotionally retarded once again.
