What`s hilarious for me is to visualize how she got on the tree in the first place...think of a whole team of her staff trying to get her on the tree,provide her with the `bare necessity` and stuff.But if it`s for a good cause it`s for a good cause

Good for her for standing up for what she believes in... because I'm quite sure LA needs another warehouse built. We are cutting so much down to build more buildings...and then people will wonder why there aren't as many green places left to go or see.

perhaps those millions paid per movie stars could buy a forest and make it a nature preserve, eh?

doubt it...someone would just want to cut it down anyway... the cutters will always be in greater numbers than the ones wanting to save the greenery... IMO

"I am all for helping people.. however that is not the whole story. This land was owned by someone else, these people had their gardens there but the man bought his land back for a hefty $6 million. He wanted to build a warehouse.. which would create more jobs, but these “farmers” started protesting. This story is compared to someone buying a house and wanted to put a swimming pool. Than the previous owner wanting you to keep his shed there, than he started suing you? This makes no sense, these people have no legal right to land this guy bought. I hate how Hollywood latches on to a half story!! Maybe they could save tress and not buy, or live in house 10,000 square feet.. hmmm what about all the land in LA that is being destroyed for their house.. oh right, if it suits them well than it is right. I wish half of Hollywood would live in the real world!! I bet her agent called and told her there was a way to get back in the news. I doubt her intentions 100%!!! Maybe she could give up her land at her house for these people if she feels so bad?"

the BBC article says they'd been squatting for 14 years....

"We've made, in the last three years, enough of a donation to those farmers," he said. "I just want my land back."

He added: "I feel that the gardeners have been on the land for 14 years, almost 15 years for free.

Huh? He bought the property BACK. He probably wasn't the one who let them work there in the first place. And I can't remember the other place I read the full story but the workers are illegal immigrants. Trying to get the law, that they aren't even entitled to, on their side as always.

i'd compare it to the current legal/illegal immigration situation. do things legally, it's not a news story. do things illegally, then it's news.
