Hello again. This question came to my mind yesterday. Is there something like "applying too soon" for a K-1 visa. I met my fiancee last summer. Then we spoke hours and hours either on chat, video chat, cell phone, normal phone, whatever we could use to communicate. And when I say "hours" I mean "HOURS". Last November we decided we were made to each other and kept in touch even more. Now I'm going to meet her in Romania and I plan on staying 3 weeks in which we plan to also meet her parents and officially engage.

I already have about 6 phone bills showing my calls to her and received from her, a small mountain of chat logs, date, time and duration of Skype calls, mail that we've actually exchange like gifts and the likes, receipt for the ring I will buy for her. And not counting the dozens and dozens of photos I plan on taking along with anything I can put my hands on to show that I really met her. And of course her evidence.

Now comes my question. Is there a chance that we could be denied for not having enough time of relationship even by having tons of proof? After I meet her it will be hell for us to wait some months to just begin the long K-1 process. And I plan.....if we are lucky enough and we try to eliminate any delay caused by us.....to have her here by next xmas and close to that marry her.

Any help or tips will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The only requirement is to have met in the 2 years (in person) prior to sending in the petition.

Not how long your relationship is.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I hope that it all works out as planned, and that you both get on as well in person as you go over the phone and net.

You can not send in the petition until after you have met to meet ther requirements of having met in the last 2 years

The petition only requires proof of actually meeting, so make sure you keep your boarding cards, and take some photos, all of the chat logs etc are great but this is more for the interview to show on going relationship, it is not required for the petition.

Yes my friend. I know I can't file until I meet her. That question came to my mind and almost kept me awake all night. hehehe....... It's ok now. The paper work we can do if we are super ultra careful, avoid delays caused by us and don't waste any time. If it is evidence they want they will have it by truckloads for the day of the interview

I have to say that this site has been a blessing for her and me. It has cleared many of our doubts, eased our minds and made us more confident on what will be our biggest challenge. I thank God for the day I found this site. Congratulations for those that made it and those that have kept it going. My hat is off to you people. I will keep you posted our process. Rest assured that for her I will break any wall that can appear between us.

Ive known a lot of fiancee visa petitioners and thier gf who have just met once and filed the petition right away... The most important condition is "you have to meet her, within 2 years before filing the petition" ... Meet up with your gf and file right away hehehehe! Dont forget to keep all your boarding passes, confirmation letter of airlines if available, hotel bills, credit card receipts (used while visiting her). If you bought her an engagement, ring the receipt is one good proof.

Good luck!

Hi Victor,

It is not only about the evidence you have. I personally think that too much might not be too good either. For example that ring receipt, I wouldnt put.

When I had the interview there was a lady in front of me who had a plastic bag full of evidence, and i'm not kidding. Including all sorts of receipts. They met in person only once. Her English was not that good, and was very nervous. She did really bad. Couldnt understand some of the questions she was asked and just answered what she knew... She had to had the interview in English as her husband was native American. She was told they need more evidence.

They DO ask a lot of questions!!! But if she just stays calm and answers promptly everything will be fine. My husband came to Romania 5 times before my interview, and I was still asked why so rarely. 5 times in 2 years. It did indeed seem rare to us to, but not money wise :)).

Another question I was asked was what interests do we share. To me that Q was VERY stupid. We're in our 20s.. we didnt marry coz we share interests. So i was honest and said we don't. We are in love, but he's a boy i'm a girl. I like fashion he likes cars.

Good luck!

You: Hello

Her: Hi

You: Marry me?

Her: OK.

You: Sign this blank fiancee letter of intent and G-325.

Her: OK

You: Look at that man, smile, he is taking our photo

Her: OK

You: I will file the I-129f tomorrow, but please email me the information for the G-325 and your name to put on the fiancee letter.

Her: OK

You have now met the minimum qualifications for petitioning a fiancee visa. Your petition will be approved (all else equal) and then you will have to demonstrate to the consulate "proof of ongoing relationship" which the above will NOT qualify for.
