That statement is a bit strong.

Not at all.

I am a EE that these days mostly writes software for industrial controllers (PLC's) and PC based GUI front ends (mostly visual basic) for robotic applications. About 99% of my business is for the automotive industry. I work with difficult customers under ridiculous deadlines and I always get the job done. If I and others in my field performed like the government, you all would be driving model "A" type cars that were falling apart, if they ran at all.

If someone in my line of work is incompetent or can't keep up with the fast pace, he is gone in the blink of an eye. The problem with government is that the normal selection process that weeds out the incompetent does not exist.

Do you think the people responsible for this monumental screw up that has held up 10,000 visa applications are going to pay any kind of price? I think not.

Let's not overreact here...

1. There is a page somewhere on the USCIS website (I will try to find the link) that says they are "re-structuring" their service centers. In the future all petitions will be mailed to a specific service center based on what type of application or petition, not according to where the applicant or petitioner resides.

2. If you check the paper notice of action you received in the mail from CSC (if you haven't gotten one yet, you will), the receipt date is the same as it was when you received your NOA1. I'm A-S-S-uming :P that this means that we will still have our applications processed in the same order as we would have at NSC.

What I'm waiting to see is when (not if) VSC petitions begin transferring to CSC... that will be a very large and bitter pill to swallow for everyone out east who has grown accustomed to having their petitions fly through processing.... (sorry guys :innocent: )

Just my 2 cents :D

Funny you say that, my fiance keeps asking me the same question you just asked (he is one frustrated Englishman these days) and I can't come up with an answer! We are both currently in the restaurant industry, he's a chef and I'm in management, and I think back on my days of waiting tables in a restaurant. If I kept people waiting this long, responded so inadequately to their requests/questions, and was even slightly rude in the process, I would get written up, and tipped like ####; and this is just FOOD we are talking about!!! The difference between your job now/my experience waiting tables, and the people who work for the USCIS is this... their incomes are not at stake if their job performance is evaluated as mediorce by their clients/customers/us.

I am sure it is the same with the USCIS as with an corporate environment. You have 7 different bosses, and 7 different levels of expectations (seen the movie Office Space?! :) ). If you happen to work to only the standard that is required of you, you will always squeak by, with no criticism.

Of course I have no idea how USCIS works, and everytime I try to guess how this whole K-1 process will go, I am always wrong!

I agree with you 100% The fact that the receipt date/receipt number on the NOA1 remains the same hopefully tells us that the transfer does not change the order. Whether or not that happens in reality when they are bombarded with RFE returns remains to be seen. But there is NO way we are back at the beginning and starting from scratch. By the way Crlsgrl, we have the exact timeline, step for step!

Your opinion is duly noted.

I would offer that you need more experience with world matters, prior to making blanket statements about our Government.

I have been to 63 countries, in the service of our Government and am proud of it. I also lived overseas for 8 years.

Performance was key to the protection of life, no mistakes allowed.

Is that sort of experience in you resume' ?

Building cars is admirable, however, our Government has many competent individuals on board and I resent your blanket comments. Care to retract?

I'm not overreacting, I'm calling it like I see it. If you are content to sit back and be grateful for what ever little crumbs that get tossed your way, that's cool with me, but, have you ever wondered why things work this way? Is there anything you can do to improve the way government works? NO, and that's the real shame of it.... Hey, here's an idea, why doesn't the USCIS hire more people to deal with the visa applications so the process takes 1 month instead of 6? Gosh, wouldn't that be nice?

My fiance lives in Thailand. Here is a fun fact: She does not need a visa to go to Mexico. I am very tempted to fly her to Mexico, get her a fake Mexican ID, and drive her across the border, marry her, and apply for amnesty in the USA. The sad and funny thing is it would work.

i guess most of us (including myself) are frustrated getting caught up in this whole fiasco. sure it's making the wait longer, and really it gets tiring. i have been having sleepless nights because i dont know what really is going on behind closed doors. perhaps and im hoping it is something good. not enough information is given to us by the USCIS people except that they are working on resolving the problem and fixing the chaos. but just because we dont know yet (operative being yet) doesnt mean nothing is being done. i too have lived in a country where processes especially ones involving the government take forever to accomplish and with all the red tape that goes on overthere normal people like us wouldve been totally ignored. this whole imbra is just a bump in the road... im not happy with the outcome i believe our government couldve handled this better but im trying to stay as positive as i can because in the end i know that it will be worth the wait.

nope.

I've been all over the world too and I have seen plenty. I did not say I've seen better and you should not take my words as a personal insult. In principle, the government is supposed to serve the people. In practice, the government is too bloated to serve anybody properly.

I don't build cars, I build the automation that builds cars. I only brought it up to contrast how my business is run against the horribly screwed up mess that is called government.

Since you worked in government, would you care to explain to me why the USCIS does not staff up to handle the work load? Why with hundreds of people calling the USCIS every day trying to get information, no two people got the same answer ? Why and where the implementation of the IMBRA requirements fell off the table?

One other thing, it boggles my mind that most people are ok with this, that the attutide is "Well, they are working on it". Would you put up with this level of service if you bought a brand new car that was screwed up, and you were trying to get it fixed? I wouldn't, so why should I put up with it with the government? I paid my $170 filling fee and I don't feel that between that and the income tax, sales tax, and all the other taxes and fee's I pay that chew up about 40% of my yearly pay, that I'm being served very well at all.

Well Mate, That is the difference between Government agencies.

The one I worked for required high level Security clearances. That was sufficient to separate the "chaff from the wheat".

With that said, and in an effort to answer your query, the USCIS evidently does not hold the same standards.

Think postal standard....Are you breathing? ...OK...Welcome aboard..... Standards vary. I would only ask that you refrain from the blanket statements that span the Government. Fair enough?

By the way, I hold an ME degree. Best of luck to you and your intended. That is the spirit of this board. No?

Further, I fully agree with your assessment. I am tired of the BS.

We pay, we file, we get worked over.

Meanwhile, the illegals are minutes away from amnesty. That really sucks.

However, what can we do? complain? Ya, but does it really speed things up? I don't think so, but I do feel better when I do.

I received the same message today!!!!!!

My I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was sent to Nebraska and was received there on March 29th.

June 1st it was sent to the California center.

Today I tried calling the California "local number" 1-949-831-8427 that the National service center gave me however the number is disconnected!!

Any one else have any luck? The phone system for the national service center said the agents there would no have any information on my case, only the california center would.

Are we now going to have June 14th dates putting us at the end of the line???

equally confused :help:

That's BS! I think they need to figure out another method of processing our visas. Don't get me wrong. I will wait forever for my love if I have to, but why do that just because our country (that seems so great, and everyone wants to transfer to) can't get their system straight?
