i'm mailing off my I-129f packet and i wanted to know do i have to include a personal check for the application fee or can i do a money order?

Either is accepted but most filers recommend a personal check since it can be verified as payment received from your bank.

I think a personal check works the best, just make sure you have the funds in the bank

I have a checking account, but I haven't ordered any checks. Could I go to the bank and get the free ones where the hand you a couple with a blank space to write in your information? I think they're called "starter checks". Would USCIS accept a 'starter check' as long as I have the funds in my account?

I don't see why not, as long as they can get their money.
