Hi All,

My wife filed I-485 late last Oct but still has not received the interview letter yet. I have seen some other cases that filed around the same time have been transferred to local office. So my question is: who is doing the appointment scheduling, national benefit center or local office? Does that mean I need to wait for the case to be transferred to local office before we can receive the appointment letter?

Yes, or transferred to California in which case an interview is unlikely.

There are many variables to the !-485 timeline. One variable is how backed up the local office is.

Filling in your timeline and information would help other Vjers to answer your questions. For example, if your visa is a K3 through the Kansas City local office, someone with a similiar situation may relate their experience.

The case is at NBC. I think the local office should be Los Angeles, the visa type is K1.

The status of my papers never changed and it says its on NBC but tomorrow is our appointment for initial interview for the I-485. For a K1 visa, your petition will probably be transfered to CSC as pushbrk mentioned. If you signed up for Case Status Online at the USCIS website you should have been informed when or if youer petition was transfered
