Ihave disabled the search feature for now. I will monitor and contact the NOC. It is not an issue with the "site" per say but likely the server...

Until we resolve the issue the forums site search will remain offline to prevent server load spikes (searching on the forums in the biggest cause of load spikes). The Google Search will continue to work :). I am very sorry for the trouble but as you can imagine I would prefer the site to remain up and stable than to risk allowing the search function to stay on at this point.

For what it is worth I just confirmed that the search is causing this slow downs -- that said, I am not sure what changed from two days ago. I will keep the site "as is" for now and will work with the NOC this weekend to upgrade some backend items.

I have restored all search related items (view new posts, list members old posts/topics, etc) except actually searching for "words" in topics/posts. I believe this will function well and keep the server moving along. Once a solution to the search issue (for words) is found I will update everyone with that information. Hopefully in the next 24-38 hours... Until then the main site search is available as usual.

I will be load testing some updates at approximately 3-4pm EST today. If things go wrong (slows the site down) I will halt the testing to determine how to proceed. If all goes well then the search feature will be restored fully. My best honest guess is that it may take a few days to balance things out and until then the forums search may not be online at all times. I will not bring it online unless I am "at the helm" watching it during a live load test (peak hours) to be sure everything is ok.
