Hi,

Anyone knows of any good and inexpensive container shipping companies from Germany to the US?

BTW, can we move only half a container and pay less?

I posted the question below on a different thread and thought of adding it here as well...

Can I use a European PAL LCD TV in the US?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

Very soon the US will be dropping the analog TV broadcast signals all together and a converter will be needed for TV sets, and only new sets with a digital tuner will be able to receive on the air broadcasts.

You may need an NTSC to PAL converter: http://www.converters.tv/signals/ntsc_to_pal.html

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I guess his/her SO is already back in the US and he/she is moving her/his stuff over to the US now. They can still do DCF, as far as I know the USC only needs to be present for filing and can move to the US after that to get a job/house etc.

Removal of Conditions Timeline:

03/19/2008 - package sent to TSC, let's hope for the best

03/20/2008 - check cashed

03/26/2008 - case sent to Vermont Service Center

04/17/2008 - Biometrics scheduled

05/19/2008 - received I551 extension stamp via INFOPASS

02/12/2009 - APPROVED

02/21/2009 - GC received...no mistakes...valid until 2019

No, not true.

I think Frankfurt requires the USC have orders to Germany to file there. If not military, the USC needs a valid Auftenhaltserlaubnis. Unlike other consulates, there is no waiting period. The same day you pick up the permit is the same day you can file for DCF through Frankfurt. Some people have started the process from the US with their unexpired permits. Not sure how it works with the miltary. Either way, there is no requirement for the USC to be physically present in Germany after the process has started.

Well, I'm not in the military either so I have no idea how the process is (however, there were a few military couples waiting on my line filing the I-130 so would be worth checking it out). It does say that you have to a resident in Germany before filing, check out the Frankfurt website:

http://germany.usembassy.gov/immediate_relatives.html

There's a link for military personnel.

I'm not sure whether you have to file in person, it's only recommended in order to speed up the process. You will need to provide a copy of the Auftenhaltserlaubnis (translated, however they said they didn't need a translation since I have unlimited PR in Germany).

You don't have to file in person and YMMV with filing in person. Some people have their interviews within 2-4 weeks, while others wait between 8-12 weeks along with the mail ins. But I did this like 2 years ago, so don't take my word for it. :P

You don't need translations of anything German that goes with packet 3, beyond the police certificate only if it has entries. I did them for I-130/G325 packet because the instructions still asked for them. Took like 10 minutes because you can do them yourself.
