Hi folks,

I received an I-797C letter of today, saying that to speed up my applications (for work permit, permanent residency et al) they are transferring my application to the California Service Center. Is this usual? Should I be worried? Happy? Nothing?!? So far, we have had 1 RFE (and sent off all the info they asked for) and I did the biometrics just before Christmas. Reassurance please!!!!

Thanks so much

David

They are shifting the work load - nothing to be alarmed about.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

This is a good thing...From what I have read, if your AOS case is transferred to CSC, there is a good chance that you will not have an interview to get your conditional GC. Good Luck

Nearly all applications transfered to CSC are approved very quickly without interview. Some are returned to the local office if they find they can not approvel without interview for some reason.

Hold tight the next thing you might get is your approval for AOS.

"Very quickly" is a relative word.

For us, it was almost 4 months after we got transferred that we received the GC (without an interview). For others, it's as little as 1 month. I think the average wait is closer to 3 months after you have been transferred to CSC to get approved. Usually, it's without an interview, but on rare occasions, they will transfer the case back to the local office to schedule an interview if they feel an interview is needed. This doesn't happen too often though.

Well, that is reassuring and has made my day a lot more cheerful. Although from bitter experience with USCIS I am not getting my hopes up too much, and wont believe anything until I get the green card itself. I am also hoping for the temporary work permit soonish too, although maybe that is wishing for too much (and given the economy maybe not very useful anyway!)

Thanks for all the comments
