I guess I didnt read closely enough and thought you could do the medical stuff after you filed your 485. I sent the 485 off with everything but the 693. What is going to happen? Will everything just get rejected? What happens to my filing fee?

Thanks,

J

What (type) of visa are you adjusting status from?

You should be OK. Just have the I-693 ready to go in case you get a RFE. If you don't. Have it ready to take to your interview if you have one.

Also, depending on the country your fiancee is from, the vaccination supplement from the medical might be enough.

Wow quick replies thanks a lot.

My wife is from Japan, She has been here for the last year and a half on a student visa (F-1). I submitted everything in the guide except the 693. I will get that done this week though, just incase they send me anything soon....

Thanks for the help,

J

The medical is considered "initial evidence" so you will probably get an RFE as soon as somebody gets around to looking at your submission.

In other words, go see a Civil Surgeon (CS) and get a full medical done ASAP, and get them to fill out an I-693. You'll need physial exam, bloodwork w/ HIV & Syphillis, and TB skin test. If your package is rejected, it will be sent back to you to re-submit with the correct forms. If it is accepted, you will surely get an RFE sometime later on. That's 100% guaranteed, so you should have your wife see a CS right away to avoid a long delay.

A couple of notes:

1. Shop around for different CS's in your area, they all charge different fees. Some are real rip-offs. A typical exam, without vaccinations, should be under $300. Some vaccinations can get expensive, especially if you do it at the CS's office.

2. Try to complete your vaccinations (if needed) at your primary doctor's office or county health center before you go to the CS. Make sure you get vaccine documentation to bring to the CS. If you have insurance, it should cover vaccinations. DO NOT TELL THE DOCTOR IT'S FOR IMMIGRATION. Once they hear that, they will say insurance doesn't cover that and ask you to pay cash. If asked, just say that you want to protect yourself, or you're travelling abroad, or something along those lines.

so sorry I am terrible with acryonms. What does RFE stand for. Is that a request for more information or will they reject the entire application ( I-130 and the I-485)?

My wife has some of the vaccines, but I am not sure which ones she specifically needs..

Request For Evidence

They will send you a paper saying "send us a medical" but in fancy USCIS words. You send it along with the paper they mailed you and your case resumes. That's what I think will happen.
