We were approved for our K3, I-129 on 12/19! We received notice on 1/2 that the NVC had received our petition. But what comes next I am so confused about! Is the NVC going to be sending me paperwork, before our case is forwarded to the Embassy? Taking an additional 6-8 weeks? Or is our petition immediately reviewed and sent to the embassy, for completion?

As a side, I called the NVC, and they told me that we would have to return a DS-230 before anything happened, and that would take 4-6 weeks. However, that seems to contradict what I see on this website, that cases are forwarded about a week after the NVC receives them. Please help!!!

Best of luck to all those waiting to be reunited with their spouses. Patience is a virtue.

Here is some instant information for you..however, you can also visit the VJ guidlines for more information.

As we can see you got both of ur application approved, u can go for either of the visas K3 or CR1/IR1.

If you want to go with I129f which is K3(non-immigrant spouse visa) then u dont need to deal with NVC, you will now correspond with local US embassy and forward K3 packages as per embassy's instruction. K3 is a faster way to get a visa and family reunion where u have to status the adjust for getting the green card after the benificiary enters in to the US.

If you want to go with I130which is CR1/IR1(immigrantion visa) then u need to deal with NVC which takes around 4-6 weeks if you don't get RFEs(request for evidence). Then NVC forwards ur case to the local US embassy and schedules an appoinment for visa interview, which is more likely to be 4-6month from the case completion at NVC. after successful interview, u are stamped with Immigrant Visa, and after coming to US there is no extra hassle of AOS and green card arrives within 4-6 weeks.

Thank you

Sonia

Two petitions have been approved. Zero applications have even been submitted. You may follow either the K3 or CR1 path or both. See the "Guides" for basic step by step information.

So let's assume that I'm going with the K3 visa. How do I make sure the NVC knows that? I don't really understand how there is an option. What is my follow up to make sure this happens?

They already understand that and require no input from you. To go forward with CR1 requires you respond to correspondence from NVC.
