Do perents get contacted while doing AOS in US

Hi Dear,

Hope you all are having wonderful holidays. I wanted to get back to you with a very important thing i needed to know I am adjusting here from B1/B2 based on marriage to USC wife.

Now as she is quite a bit elder from me , I had to keep this thing away from my mom & dad in India as you know marriage with age difference is not quite appreciated in societies there. So what we planned in after I start working and after i can travel post GC, i wd take here there and introduce her.

BUt before that I dont really want them to know this :

Is there any chance that they call my perents in India to ask things after we apply for AOS ? as you know we give all informations in the forms.This is very important for me to know before I apply. Did anyone`s perents get contacted ?

i know they do contact if someone is doing K1... but do they contact perents while someone is adjusting here based on marriage from B1/B2 ?? I dnt think the home consulate is even contacted as they take all decisions here.... can someone who adjusted from B1/b2 pls reply ............... thanks a lot ..

I doubt USCIS will contact your parents back in India. They didn't in my case, there is no reason for them to do so.

If parents abroad are contacted it would not be by USCIS but by State Department Consular Services representatives. Yes, this kind of think DOES happen but it would be impossible to predict when or under what set of circumstances. It would also be common to ask if the parents are aware and approve, when the relationship seems outside the norms of the local culture. US Dept. of State Diplomatic Security Service, or actual Consular Officers are available to investigate immigration fraud abroad.

I would concur on this.

You never know though.

If they suspect visa fraud and see AOS from a visitors visa, they may do additional investigating, a parent "Objecting" may raise suspicions, as to why a K-1 was not applied for.

hmmm... i understnd that ...thing is i came to her 1stly to know her and do some stuff together and i went back and decided to do K1. so i came 2nd time and wanted to help arranging everything and wanted to hand deliver stuffs like some evidences.But what was also the purpose was the entire project we worked together was to be changed as the publisher didnt like it .And thats what we showed at the consulate. Now after living here for 2.5 months or so her doctor told that her shots are not working and she has to go through a surgery. She wanted me to stay back and we got married 7 days before my visa ended. So we are writing all these in the letter of intention and making a statement from the doctor ready for the interview stage. Hope this doesnt look like a marriage fraud ! Does my wife(USC) need to write at the letter that my perents doesnt approve it ... does she needs to be that clear , in case ?

You, can never tell what the immigrations officer may determine. AOS from a visitors visa has it's risks, same as a Visa interview for a K-1 visa at the consulate.

It can go either way, no telling.

You are adults and I would NOT suggest mentioning anything about parents in your AOS letter. That doesn't make any sense at all. I have never heard about relatives being contacted for AOS application. The question of parent's approval would come up at an Indian Consulate visa interview, not in USA for AOS. (As YuandDan keep mentioning, anything is possible but I would say it is very highly unlikely in this case.)
