Request for more evidence - what else can we send them?

Hello all

Today my husband and I received a request for more information to show communal living. We have received our NOA1 and my husband has had his biometrics appointment. We are racking our brains as to what else to send them. Hubby has been in the USA since 06' (we were married in April 06) – however I have owned the home we live in since 2002, and all bills were already in my name. We didn't add him to any of these things, which looking back at now obviously we should have. However, as you can see in the list of evidence that we sent in below we have joint bank, car insurance, health insurance etc.

It is just so frustrating, I guess they probably aren't to happy with the fact I didn't change my maiden name or that we don't have children! :(

Evidence we sent with our original packet:

I-751 application

Cover letter

Copy of green card

Joint Car Insurance 2006 – 2008

Joint Tax forms 2006 – 2008

Joint ING Statement (investments) 2006 – 2008

Joint Bank Accounts 2006 – 2008

Health Insurance 2006 – 2008 (also included enrollment and change of info after marriage)

Life Insurance showing hubby as beneficiary 2006 -2008 and hubby's showing me as beneficiary as for 2008 which was the first year he was offered life insurance

YMCA gym family membership (joint)

Evidence of 3 month RV trip (receipts, invoices etc with both our names)

Mail both personal and business in both our names and separately spanning 2006 to 2008 (post marks shown)

3 Sworn Affidavits

Photos

What else can we send them????

We did some home renovations right away and we are thinking of receipts that show he spent money on the home.

We shipped our pets from Australia to here in the USA maybe we could send those invoices?

A letter explaining in more detail that I owned our home prior to our marriage, I stated this in the cover letter with items we already sent.

Any other suggestions?? Thanks.

Hi Merp, sorry to hear this as it leaves me worried also. I havent changed my name and am too old to have babies, :-)

just wondering if you have your tickets, or a lease from oz... do you have phone calls to one another, or phone bills showing both your phones. Did you send the back and front of the green card?

I would send the papers from your pets, and if you have vets bills here, are they in your name?

Wills?

Hope you get approved soon, usually it seems a RFE means you are close once you respond

best wishes

Jayde -

I will have to search and see if we still have the tickets, only my hubby has been back since he got here. But maybe I kept our tickets from when we came back to the USA to live. We don't have a lease from oz cause he owned his home there (silly independent people we are!!) Yep I sent both front and back of the green card...

Do you all think I should send in our marriage cert and things that were included with our I-130? I assumed that our file from that adventure followed us and they didn't need that information again?

I hope you have a better time with it all Jayde... they should realize that not all of us change our names, have babies, or combine everything but we are still a very valid couple... I'll step off my soap box now  ah well thanks.

haha! I'll take any ideas I can get :hehe:

I did send copies of our Drivers IDs... but not credit cards, I will put that on the list. We had thought about Will when we sent in the packet, but didn't know if it would look bad that it was dated and done right before we sent in our packet... would it look even more rushed now? I'm going to spend tomorrow looking through all our paper work and see what I can find... at least my husband said tonight "good thing you're a pack rat and keep all that stuff" so if nothing else for once my pack rat personality might just be handy!

Oh my god... this thread just terrified me. Seriously, an RFE after what you sent in is seriously the most f**ked up thing I've ever heard. Are you kidding me?! What more could they possibly want?

I'm just trying to get through my husband's interview process and his move here.... good to know now, though- I'm going to get my hoarding of evidence on.... yikes.

This wasn't a very helpful post, sorry. Do you have a movie card jointly, like Blockbuster? If not, you could get one- I don't think it has the date on it. Any bills he has paid for the mortage- attach the receipt to your ownership papers?? That's all I got. Good luck! I'm sure you two will be fine- you probably just got the worker in training.

Ok, I'm still peeved about this.... so I've talked to my coworkers about the requirements for this whole process (which I for the most part understand WHY they ask- I think it is taken to extreme), and the majority of them said that they probably would not pass an interview!

Maybe you two could try to adopt a kid.... or take a picture next to your newly built white picket fence.... or show some pictures of you baking cookies and him clipping the yard before the block party....

Wow - you had plenty of evidence. I wonder if they just happened to misplace some of it and aren't looking at everything you included.

Definitely include shipping the pets information. Include any loan information. Write your wills and include those. Include more notarized affidavits from several people who know you as a married couple and will attest to the fact. Include more recent mail addressed to both of you at the same address - Christmas cards are good examples. Credit card statements, yes. Highlight joint bank statements showing where house payments, loan payments, etc. come out of your joint account. Choose statements that show activity from both of you on the account. Write an explanatory cover letter that says the house and accounts are in your name because you have owned the house since 2002 - before your husband arrived and since the same account pays for the expenses there seemed no need to add his name to the accounts. Oh, if you microchip your pets you can include both of your names as contacts and include that information as well. Also, if you have any CDs or IRAs you can do the first jointly and the second listing the other as beneficiary. Do you have any pension or retirement plans that list the other as a beneficiary? What about a medical bill addressed to the house or a medical insurance statement for each of you addressed to your address? What about AAA Emergency Car Plan cards? What about a family cell phone plan with both your names and numbers?

You sent far more evidence than a lot of people who have been approved so I sure hope it isn't because you kept your maiden name and don't have kids - I kept my maiden name too and am to old to have kids - heck, I'm a step grandmother! My husband bought our house before we were married as well and all of the ongoing bills are in his name and paid online. I did include some of the maintenance work that was done on the house and paid by cheque by me so that might be something you could add if he paid things by check for the house - see if you have incidental bills he might have paid.

Oh, just a suggestion - make a checklist of all of the 'new' evidence' and a statement that you are adding this to the evidence already submitted, then make an itemized statement listing all of the previously submitted evidence. Be specific so if you included 10 bank statements, list out 10 bank statements with the dates. You want to 'overwhelm' them with the evidence and if they did misplace any your including the list of previously submitted evidence might cause them to check and find it.

Good luck! I really think they must have lost some of the evidence you originally submitted.

Well since you said above, let me throw this wild idea :innocent:

Why dont both of you visit togather to OBGYN and do some checkup test/fertility test just for heck of it to show them that you

are togather visting OB and preparing to conceive and here is the evidence...and see if that makes them happy !!!!!

P.S. you dont have to take this seriously...

Kathryn41 - I was planning on resubmitting most of the original information, I think I will still do that and include with it a very detailed list of what I am giving them from the original packet, plus what the original I-175 contained. That way if they have lost some information they will have another copy of it and not have to wait on us to send anything out – again!

We do have AAA cards, but we are on my Mothers plan, so I am going to go talk to AAA and see if they can pull off a record of just our names with our address.

We also have some Aussie family coming to visit soon, so we are going to include their trip info and an affidavit from them.

Thanks for you help I will add some other things to the list and get to looking for paperwork.

Raj0000 – I don't think we will do that, but if it comes down to them really wanting to know why two 30-somethings aren't having a few babies we can explain to them that it's just not going to happen for medical reasons, I just don't think it is any of their business if we choose to have children or not... *looks around – and steps off soap box again* I just hope that this is not really the only other information that they want.

Thanks though

Gah, these posts worry me. Hubby and me are not ready for kids yet (financially speaking), we live in Puerto Rico where the wife never changes her name, so mine is still my maiden one, we rent our place and my name is not on the lease, we don't have car insurance together, I don't have my driver's license yet to show same address (use international one) and anyway his still show his old address, all we have is tax returns together, credit card together, cards to both of us, and then bills that come in my name and bills that come in his name, to same address. Makes me think I'm definitely getting an RFE and can't do a thing about it, except submit repeated evidence when it comes. Am gonna send affidavits as well, and a couple pictures, but if tax returns and some bills don't fly, I don't know what will.

Merp, we had the same thing happen recently with an RFE. and we had a lot of evidence too.

So all we did was send in copies of exactly what we sent prior, chucked in a few Xmas cards from Australia, updated and current copies of our bank account statements and a current electric bill in both names. 7 days later got the 10 year GC in the mail, no updates showed on their website for it.

I personally think they had lost some of our info, so just needed it again.

Cheers

Parys
