SO its that time to file for the AOS. A few questions about that though. I know i file for the AOS, and she cant work or leave the country without EAD, or AP. but what if we wait for the green card, will that be her EAD and AP as well, or do we still need to file for that seperatly?

thanks & Airgatou

Best to file them all together I-485, AP and EAD. Same envelope but separate. EAD and AP are free.

You don't need to file for EAD and AP if you don't need them before the Green Card comes. For example, we didn't file for AP because we know we won't be leaving the country anytime soon, having a baby on the way in about a month or so. You have to give specific dates to get AP, and we couldn't supply that information.

But why not put in for EAD anyway? It's easy, and it doesn't cost you any more money if filed with your I-485.

leaving the country without green card or ap isn't the problem, it's getting back in that's the problem.

moving this from Asia: East and Pacific (Except China) to aos forum.

It's not required to file EAD or AP, unless you want to work or travel outside the US and return before you get the green card. We filed it all together, and ended up not needing it because my husband was approved for his greencard very shortly after getting EAD and AP.

But, it's free so why not?
