Ok guys, I'm sure some of you are in the same boat.

How on earth do u plan a wedding when u don't know if u are getting the visa for sure or not?? I'm assuming everything will go fine and we've set a date for Aug 5. We filed 17 days ago so......do u think the chances are good of an Aug 5 wedding?? I have never been so stressed out in my life. I don't know whether to book the reception/ceremony place or not. I don't know whether to get my dress yet or what to tell our guests. ARGGHHH! Any advice would greatly be appreciated as I am so worried I could puke. We did let the CSC know about our wedding date in our application letter so hopefully they will approve me in time for the big day. I have a funny feeling that has no bearing on how fast its processed though. Blah.

Sarah

We set a date also but luckily we didnt have ot make downpayments or anything because this is taking longer than expected. I would wait until you get the NOA2 to make any plans. That is just my advice though.

Sarah,

You don't. Or you take the risk.

(I wonder if there's such a thing as 'wedding insurance', and if there is does it cover immigration problems?)

But I have to plan it. There is no way I can get family there, pull everything off without planning before I get there. JUST NO WAY!

Yes I know and I have tears streaming down my face. This shouldn't be happening....I knew I was going to get upset. I HATE this whole process. I have just barely started yet too. Bah.

Trust me...I do too. We didnt expect to be waiting this long for our NOA2. It has almost. We can´t figure out what is taking so long. what you can do is have a civil marriage and then plan a church wedding later that everyone can attend. It looks like that is what we will have to do

I think you are cutting it abit too close... JMHO

I would figure more like 10 months to be on the safe side from date of NOA1.

Well yes...only cuz I noticed you had:

"Nov 5 '04- 12 month border block put on me"

That may or may not cause you some problems.

My fiance and I had a straight foward case and it took 8 months from start to finish...we planned a 8-10 month window when we set our wedding date....

That is the key in this whole process...if you are wanting a proper wedding....make yourself a nice window of time to work with!

Sarah,

If you went by my timeline, we filed in May 05 and got the visa as of Oct 05, approximately 5 months. We had no RFE's and at that time Calif was pretty quick(36 days from NOA1 to NOA2). Planning anything only 6 months off may be a bit too close for comfort. Seeing as you have 90 days after entry to get married, you may be better off to plan something in the fall. my thoughts to you....wait till you get your NOA2 then by historical results, you should get your visa within 4 months of that. Planning your wedding 6 months after the NOA2 "should" be a safe bet just as long as your case is a straight forward one going through the Montreal consulate. Planning your wedding 6 months in advance should be enough time to get all the details sorted and from my experience...things always have a way of working out just fine after all.

Best of luck in your journey

:luv:

Oct 2005 visa received

Dec 24, 2005 Married in Vegas

Jan 29, 2006 sent AOS

April 19, 2006 AP approved...finally

Aug 30, 2006 AOS interview....approved

Sept 06...Received Green card
