I agree with that! It is most important! I wish the process didnt have to be so complicated but those are the rules and we just gotta deal. It's hard to keep waiting considering my fiance just last night told me he thinks our relationship has grown about all it can while we are apart. We thought about the k-3 but he doesnt want to wait any longer to be together. He wont do it. He has to be together with me for our love to continue to grow. I sure do have lots of respect for ppl who persue cross-border/country relationships. It's not an easy thing and you sure do test ur strength level, dont you?? I want my wedding to be something special and not something that is thrown together at the last minute, you know? I think its more than likely we will end up having a civil ceremony or eloping to fulfill the visa requirments and then having a bigger celebration later on for family and friends. That way I can wear my dress too :D Thanks to everyone for their thoughts/ideas/support. It means mroe than you guys know.

Well the reason we went with k3 instead of k1 was because I am from california and I didn't want to sit in that traffic jam there. So there is a benefit to filing at the chicago lockbox. We decided pretty much on a whim to get married in canada and then do Wedding #2 for the family.

My problem now, is my very cute mother, with all good intentions, cannot stop talking about wedding #2. I told her I can't plan it until I absolutely know everything is ok and i don't really even want to think about wedding 2 because I'll lose my mind!!

We were going to do the civil ceremony in Ottawa but I found a lady who was so great, she was just a little bit more $ than justice of the peace, and she came to our location, so we got hitched in our honeymoon suite LOL! I can refer you if needed!!

Also, can I ask you cali, how do you know you got the border ban? did they give you something on paper? I was just wondering as my husband got stopped in toronto and was held for 5 hours but they didn't tell him squat, they just returned him to ottawa and wouldn't let him travel. We've been wondering all this time whether he has a ban.
