I watch that too from time to time. ( BBC) On this channel they talk about what's going on in many other countries not specific to just one.

Haha! I saw the news comment, so I had to add this story. DH and I complain all the time about how the US news only reports the bad stuff. We hear all about the troubles in Zimbabwe, but rarely hear anything from Ghana. Ghana recently had peaceful elections, so we listened avidly to the news to see if they said anything. NOTHING. When they get to their "news from around the globe" it is always the few specific regions that are politically hot right now. DH was furious that they mentioned NOTHING about the Ghana elections. Ironically though? My mother reads the Dallas Morning News and that paper did a big story on the Ghanaian elections, saying how they should be commended and even had a picture of people in Ghana voting! Who would have thought the Dallas Morning News would cover it more than the 24 hour news stations?

And as far as the relationship stuff, DH and I have been together since 2003, married since 2005 and are still happily married.

The sad thing about Nigerians and the scam word is it adds stress to the relationship from all sides. You have to defend yourself even more than most people because as soon as you mention Nigerian well meaning people will try to give you the scammer lecture.

Exactly, in the U.S. it's a knee-jerk reaction. What can be done about it?

When people would tell me that it was probably a scam (even some I knew that are here from Nigeria) I would just smile and tell them thanks for your concern. I did end up getting scammed, but I didn't listen to others; I listened to my fiance who was in Nigeria at the time. He assured me in no way was he a scammer.......

Bottom line is you have to do you!

Still waiting to hear from some peeps that married Nigerians and it's still going well.

In Nigeria I hear that your suspose to be financially stable before you marry; if

someone is always telling you of situations or occurrences that would prompt you to

send money; I'd be wary. I'd let them solve their own problem, many peeps milk money

out of others that way. Your love interest shouldn't need you to rescue them; sounds

a little cruel; but I say that for a reason. Just my little two cents.

I think i would totally agree with you on this one, because this are some red light you have to look for when someone is want to defruad you, i also believe that Idocare is talking from experience, but neverthless that should not make you to generalise it because some are still genuine in there relationship with their foreign spouse.

Again as for sweet... so also you when you mention that all those people that are going to cyber cafe are fruadster, that mean anytime you find yourself there also you are qouote/unquote that is that.

what about the people that has internet on their offices, and are being brutalite by nigerian girls in the name of love, but they now trying to spread there net somwhere else.

please refrane your defence and think very well before you start generalise the your posting

thanks

Just keep your eyes wide and really wide open because, yes, there's a very very very high probability he'll leave you to marry in his tribe when all documents are in his hands. Yes, it's not a joke. HE WILL LEAVE YOU SOMEDAY TO GO BACK AND MARRY IN HIS TRIBE. I'M SORRY BUT I CAN'T BE ANY CLEARER. YES HE WILL LEAVE YOU WHEN HE GETS ALL HIS PAPERS.

please where are this people come from, if they dont have anything to contribute why cant they just keeep thier mouth shut, i dont want to sound rude but this is ###### talking like this

Nigeria is the country that I have been too twice, read and continue too read books about and where my ex-husband is from, thus my experience. I can't talk about South Africa , nor any other place that I don't know nothing about. I write about my personal experience and the experience of others that have contacted me and shared information with me but didn't want to post, some still remain here lurking and (Just as I do )feel as sense of relief/duty to see some of their experience out there on an open thread. If your taking this as a generlization; I can't stop you from feeling that way, but again I can only post about my experience and that's Nigeria.
