Dec. 19 (Bloomberg) -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today ordered all state workers to take two days of unpaid leave each month to conserve money amid a record budget deficit and a legislative impasse over how to fix it.

The furloughs will begin in February and will last through June 2010, Schwarzenegger said in an executive order. He also ordered all departments to cut 10 percent of their workforce costs, through firings if necessary.

I lived in LA for 37 years and was there when the CA State Lottery began. Where did and does all the money go. To the schools. Yeah right. The school system is worse than ever. I wonder if the Governor is taking a leave of pay during this furlough. Im sure he can afford it.

We have to take 80 hours of unpaid leave between now and July 2009 and will most likely have to do the same next FISCAL year. They are laying off 224 by the middle of January and most likely another 600 by July. This ecomony really sucks
