Hello all,

Could someone please give us an indication of approximately how long it takes to get employment authorization after filing for the EAD? My fiance came on a k-1 and we are planning on filing jointly with the AOS, of it makes any difference...

Thanks!

Filing tax jointly? All that is needed is SSN or ITIN to file a joint return.

EAD can take 60-90 or more days to get after filing I-485 + I-765.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I think she meant filing AOS and EAD together.

Can you file for a "Regular" EAD without filing for AOS??? Filing for a Temporary EAD is worthless, it takes longer to get than the card is valid and costs $350! The "Regular" EAD is part of the AOS packet. I thought the basis of getting the regular EAD is the AOS based on the marriage....So not sure how it could be filed for without the rest of the documents...

You need to file the EAD with the AOS or else it just expires when the I-94 expires...ie 90 days after entry.

The regular EAD is an interim benefit for those adjusting status. If you file for the EAD before AOS it is not considered an interim benefit because AOS has not been filed.
