You can send $100 for a $12 fee, and also they take another fee out of what your fiancee will receive by using an artificial exchange rate. If you live anywhere near a Western Union agent (Wal-Mart is one of them) the fee you pay there is more like $5 per hundred dollars.

This is not true, Old Dominion is correct.. Western Union has cut off for every 1000$.

I always send money to western union to pay our loan in the Philippines.. and they charged more than the flat rate, based on how much money you will going to send.

I am extremely satisfied with Xoom. First time, she and I had to wait several business days for the money to clear my checking account. The next 2 transactions, she was able to pick up the money on her end BEFORE it cleared my account! VERY reasonable fee, in my humble opinion.

That will get you started quickly, but I like what I read of other's advice to open the PNB account for the long-run.

FYI, if you don't already know. They won't allow a woman over 7mos pregnant to fly. So, IF you've filed K-1, best to let the USEM know of the urgency in processing you concerning your pregnancy. If she's delayed too long, she'll be forced to stay and give birth there. Then, I think that your K-1 is no longer good, and you have to re-file for the petition for fiance AND child.

My husband also used xoom when I was in the PI and since I already had an ATM there which is Metrobank (it's my payroll ATM) so we just used it, it's fast, reliable and cheaper. Xoom never failed us too and Metrobank even notified me that the money was already deposited in my account - this is for $1000 above. But If she doesn't have any atm and you have to send the money asap then you can just use WU, whichever is convenient for you and for her especially.

my hubby used to send me money (for 2 yrs)via western union when i was in the PI . WU is fast and reliable but we discovered a fast and cheaper way to send money compare to WU. When i got here in the US, my hubby sent his ATM Card to my mom in the PI so that they will just withdraw the money from any ATM Machines, in that way, it cost lesser for us to send money compare to WU. I used to use MoneyGram before I opened my Credit Union account as mentioned earlier in this thread. Just go to Walmart and tell them you want to send money and they give you the forms to fill out and the cost is something like $9.48 for any amount up to $750 unless it has changed. You can go online to see where you can pick it up in the Philippines. We used a national place of business there which has locations all over the Philippines. I think it was a chain of pawn shops but very reliable. Hope this helps.

My fiance sends me money through Western Union.

Western Union works faster.

She can take the money within minutes after you sent it.

All she need is an valid I.D and the transaction's control #.

Though there are fees. I think it's somewhere $12 per $100. I'm not quite sure.

And when she claims the money, she is charged again with a tax here. (I just forgot the name of it. Sorry!)

But just recently, we switched to PayPal cause he won't get charged with the money he is sending.

Although your fiancee needs to have a peso or dollar bank account and a credit or debit card.

Money will be claimed within 5-7 working days depending on the bank.

It works better for him cause he won't get charged.
