VERO BEACH, Fla. – A Vero Beach man faces a domestic violence charge after authorities said he assaulted his girlfriend with a cheeseburger. An Indian River County Sheriff's Office arrest report said a 22-year-old man and his girlfriend got into an argument as they sat in a car in front of their home.

The report said the man would not let the woman out of the vehicle, so she threw his drink out of the car. In response, the man allegedly grabbed her arm and smashed the cheeseburger into her face. The pair got out of the car, and authorities say the man again took the McDonald's sandwich and put it on her face.

The man was released on $1,000 bond Wednesday.

I'd say that's assault.

I remember a woman got charged with assault for throwing her drink at another car's window. It wasn't too long ago.

i have to wonder if it was a double or triple stack.

I can't believe that a little of food fight can also be used against you and be treated in court as an assault. I feel bad for the poor man. This is another reason why I wouldn't date an American woman.

My daughter-in-laws are the sweetest girls I have ever met, born and raised in America, hard working, good looking, and great mothers. Why am I married to a foreigner? We met and fell in love, can't explain that. My best friend's wife is an American, she is an angel from heaven, now it wouldn't be very nice if I stole her from him. But I like my own wife a million times greater.

NickD,

That's very good to have wonderful daughters. I am skeptical of American woman. A great many of them. If you are male, and you're in an elevator with them packed tightly with other people and you touch them by accident, she can just yell sexual harassment or call the police on you for groping.

Small things like this incident shouldn't even be considered in court. It's very unfortunate.

Ha, I have the opposite problem with women rubbing on me, when I carried a German Shepard in my jacket, thought I was going to be raped with women sticking their hands inside of my jacket. Women in Venezuela are far more aggressive, met many of them that are friend of my wife. When saying goodbye, no hand shakes, came up and gave me a big hug and kissed me on both cheeks. The ones on my face by the way asking me if I knew a man like me, LOL.

But none have the magic I feel when I hug my own wife, that's why I married her and plan on keeping her. Wife doesn't seem to mind when her girlfriends give me that big hug, she knows that I love her.

Maybe he likes Burger King better?

Assault with a cheap cheeseburger. If he had thrown a Fuddruckers cheeseburger I'm sure there would be no story.

Would it be assault if he had thrown cold cuts at her? Just curious.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

She should be thankful. At least they hadn't gone to Dairy Queen. Then, he could have shoved French fries up her nose and hit her in the face with one of those new "Iron Grilled" sandwiches.

Or Taco Johns. He could have shoved Potato Oles into her eyes and smashed her face between two burritos.

Or Subway - he could have taken a 12 incher and jammed it all the way down her throat.

Or Dominos Pizza. He could have ordered a large thin crust, wrapped it around her head and smothered her to death with it.

You know...things can always get worse...
