Oh and funny story...

There's a lot of talk on VJ about what to say to the customs agent when crossing the border. Scott and I had talked about what to say going into Canada -- of course, we're already married, he has his green card, we're all kosher, but I have a big wedding gown in the back seat. We decide to go the much-advised route of telling the truth but not offering up unnecessary details. When asked what the purpose of our trip was, we simply said we were visiting Scott's family. Which was of course the truth. But we didn't feel the need to add that we were having a wedding and add any confusion -- I have no intention of immigrating to Canada right now and didn't want to give that impression by saying we were getting married! And by being confusing since we're *already* married.

So getting in was fine.

On the way back into the States, 2 of my friends in their car were roadtripping back with us. Scott and I went through customs first, said we were on our way home, no problem. We pull over to wait for our friends. They get through, also no problem. When we stop for lunch, my friends tell me that when the customs guy asked them what they had been doing in Canada, they were like, "attending their wedding" -- motioning to our car, who'd already been safely through. Apparently the guard was like "They didn't tell me that!!"

Just really made me laugh.

Well we sent in the RFE last week after a VERY hectic physical in Boro Park (Rae, you know what I am tlaking about! lol). We went there because it was the cheapest one around, but I would have paid a little extra if I would have known how TERRIBLY disorganized and unfriendly they would be at this office. Anyway, it's over now and hopefully they will just send Adriano his damn green card already.

I cannot believe that in exactly a week, Adriano will have been in the USA for one year. It is crazy to think how far he has come with his English and everything else. Last night he went out with my two brothers and my sister for St. Patty's Day! Of course I wasn't there with him, because I am stuck here in the middle of nowhere. I am so proud of him, because a year ago, this sort of thing would not have been feasible since he wouldn't have been able to understand anything. It's also amazing that we are still dealing with this USCIS nonsense one year later!!!

Anyway, I hope everyone is well, and that they had a wonderful holiday!!

Go Irish!! :innocent: Shameless Notre Dame plug ;)

bump

We don't hear from you for months and all you can say is 'bump'? :D:P

Hope you are well Susie. :)

Haha I was offended at how low the thread has drifted. Even though, I guess I only have myself to blame.

I AM doing well! Adriano finally got his green card in the mail, and I am going to NY next week for Easter. Very exciting indeed.

I hope YOU are well, along with everyone else.

Well, I have been scarce to say the least. BUT, with our one year anniversary approaching next week I thought I'd pop in and see how everyone else is doing. As for us....Peter got his insurance finally the first of May. What a worry of our shoulders! He's had the same job since Thanksgiving working for our apartments as maintenance...so we get a break on our rent. He'll get a promotion in June and a raise as the Lead Maintenance person is moving out of the country. What a blessing this has been for our lives for now!

What has everyone else been up to? It's amazing how my real life has taken over and we've been working to nurture our relationship in r/l and not online anymore. It's kept me off the computer so much! It's wonderful having him here now and knowing we'll never be apart again is wonderful. I hope everyone else is well and happy. It's tougher than I thought it would be...but we are happy just the same!
