Supposedly no vaccines are required for K1 visa applicants at the time of their interview. My understanding is that these can be done after the wedding and before adjustment of status in the USA.

I was wondering it this is true across ALL consulates worldwide.

Has anyone ever had a problem by not having them done in advance?

You have two choices regarding your vaccination:

1. You can have it at your place during your medical examination

2. You can have it in USA before adjustment of status

I am from Philippines and i decided to have my vaccination there because it is already included on the medical fee. Get all the vaccines you can get during medical examination. and they will give you vaccination record.

During Adjustment of Status, there is a form called I-693 that you need to present your vaccination record to a Civil surgeon and let him tranfer it to the form. The surgeon will check your vaccination record if you had all the vaccine needed, if not, they will give it to you and you need to pay additional fee for it.

Hope that helps...

According to the DOS a K-1 has no vaccination requirements... however there appears to be inconsisitent application of this rule at some consulates...

Yes, for example, at the London medical I've heard they try and pressure you into getting the HPV there.

On a Similar Topic below, someone mentioned that HPV is only required for women under 26 years old. Can anyone corroborate this?

I have the schedule in front of me and it is over the age of 27 not required, this is one time I am happy that I am not in my twenty's ha ha

Guess it depends on where you are i have to get all that done now before i can even get my medical for the K-1 so infact i do need them for a K-1

I bet if you "pushed" them on the issue they would defer..(but since you need it for AOS is there really a point?). It might simply be the IV unit confusing the immigrant visa requirements with a non immigrant visa (which a "K" is but they might forget the distinction)..

YMMV

Official reply from the BKK Embassy on this topic:

"The vaccinations of a K visa applicant has to be done here before the visa interview unless there is any contraindication that makes it unsafe for the applicant to take the vaccines. In the latter case, doctor should mark so on the DS3025 vaccination form."

As pay suggested already, the Consulates view on the matter is not necessarily what the law states and if you made a fuss about it the law would probably prevail. But at what cost to you??? ;)

That being said, most people do get it in their home Country as it's usually much cheaper and much less hassle to do so.

Canadian question, but on topic for this: Does anyone know--is there a "public record" somewhere other than in your hand that holds your immigration record? Like, do they forward that information to your family doctor or something? I got all my immunizations in school--a nurse comes to give them. I got little sheets of paper for each one to put in my immunization record, but my mother lost them all as I was too young to know that she's super disorganized and loses everything! Will my doctor or the public health unit have records of this, or am I going to have to have ALL my immunizations again in order to complete this process?

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

In the US, they are usually kept either by the local public health department (in the case of vaccines given by the government) or at your doctor's office (in the case of private vaccines).
